Here is where Digimon truely made its debut. Thinking back, I did hear of the original V-Pets back quite a ways before I ever saw the anime. But they didn't seem to do very well, since they weren't around for long. I guess they were very popular in Japan, though. If not, I doubt it would've progressed as far as it did.
