"This page, which is frequently updated, is designed to meet the special
needs of screenwriters and playwrights. It is maintained by
Charles Deemer (author
of Screenwright: the
craft of screenwriting), to whom all questions, suggestions, and
additions should be directed."
"From Citizen Kane to Pulp Fiction, we are the
Internet's most complete authentic screenplay resource. All scripts are in
true film format with Script Shop covers and brass brads. They are not
summarized, altered or edited. These are the 'reel' thing. Priced at
$15.00 [American] Per Screenplay."
"We have 1000's of scripts of all different types. If it's not on our list,
we may have it, or we can get it for you! We sell only authentic
production draft screenplays. No text files or transcripts!"
". . . the most comprehensive index of movie and television scripts
available on the Internet . . . I knew there were oodles of scripts out
there, but scattered all over the place . . . I scour[ed] the earth
searching for all the scripts and their URL's on the internet. Cull[ed]
them all together into one tidy page where a person could comfortably
browse. Point and click on the title and... presto! Instant script!" This
site also has a unique feature: "Screenwriters
On The Internet"; a site where amateur screenwriters can post their
scripts for the general public to read... a great way to get a little
exposure for the first time screenwriter.
"April 10, 1912. Technology had been delivering a steady stream of
miracles for the better part of two decades and people were beginning to
take this never-ending spiral of progress for granted. What better
demonstration of humanity's mastery over nature than the launch of
Titanic, the largest and most luxurious moving object ever
built by the hand of man? But four-and-a-half days later, the world had
changed. The maiden voyage of the "ship of dreams" ended in a nightmare
beyond comprehension and mankind's faith in its own indomitable power
was forever destroyed by uniquely human shortcomings: arrogance,
complacency and greed."
"AMG (. . . All-Movie Guide) is an ongoing project to . . . list (and rate)
all feature movies and provide their credits and related information. Our
goal is to achieve a concensus by expert . . . film free-lance writers as
to the best . . . movies. Our goal with the All-Movie Guide is to find and
rate ALL feature movies (and major documentaries) -- past or present, b&w
or color, on VHS or only seen on late-night TV. For each film, we provide
information of interest to viewers. Here you will find comments on old and
new movies that may never have been released in VHS format as well as the
current blockbusters."
"The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) is an international organization
whose objective is to provide useful and up to date movie information
freely available on-line, across as many systems and
platforms as possible. It currently covers over 150,000 movies with over
2,000,000 filmography entries and is expanding continuously." Most of
the information on here is provided by the users. If you have any
interesting film trivia you'd like to see on the IMDb, you can submit it
to be added to the database.
The website of Empire Theaters, a chain of movie theatres in Atlantic
Canada. It includes a directory of Empire Theaters throughout the
Maratimes and what is currently playing at each. This directory
includes information on the features (number of cinemas, digital sound,
handicapped access, etc.) of each theater, as well as info on coming
attractions. I use this site primarily to check the
Sydney
Empire Cinemas show times.
"A collection of movie reviews from recent theatrical and video releases
to older films the Movie Nut has revisited," and "your source for VHS
widescreen editions of your favorite movies available at low, Movie Nut
prices!" I mainly use this site to look for widescreen movies in
The
Movie Nut's Widescreen Video Club. As a true film efficianado, I
prefer to see my films in widescreen format (except for films shot in
Super 35), and this site is a convenient way to find out what films have
widescreen versions available.
The Canadian division of the best known of all video and CD clubs. I
don't find their CD collection all that great, but then again, I have
unique tastes in music... :) Their movie collection, on the
other hand, is quite impressive. There are many hard to find titles,
and the duplication quality of the videos is a cut above the ones you
get in stores. I usually use this site to
respond
to my mailings on-line.
"In 1965, American engineer and physicist Ray Dolby established Dolby
Laboratories in London. His aim was to develop practical noise reduction
systems for improving sound quality in a variety of professional and
consumer environments. The resulting innovations have made Dolby a
watchword for quality audio throughout the world." In addition to the
tape noise reduction systems Dolby is famous for, they also developed
the first practical four-channel stereo sound system for films. "Most
recently, the company's latest digital audio technology -- referred to
as Dolby Digital (using AC-3) -- has brought new excitement to the
soundtracks of a thousand plus films, and to home listeners on current
generation laser discs. Dolby Digital also is bringing excitement to
home listeners via the audio tracks on DVD, and will be the standard
audio on the new high definition television (HDTV) system going into
operation in the United States [this year]."
"DTS is committed to providing consumers with the best quality sound in
both the home and in theaters, as well as providing a channel on the
internet to any and all audio related information."
Dolby Laboratories' main rival in the film
and video sound market.
THX is a registered trademark of Lucasfilm Ltd. Used with

"The quality of movie picture and sound presentation has always been a
concern of Hollywood directors and producers. In 1983, George Lucas
decided to do something about it. He created the THX Division of
Lucasfilm, Ltd. Within THX there are now four groups dedicated to
improving picture and sound for the cinema and the home . . . The THX
Sound System Program, The Home THX Program, The Theatre Alignment
Program, [and] The THX Digital Mastering Program."
