Benjamin and Isabell Palmer Piatt

Precious little information is known about Benjamin Piatt and Isabell Palmer. In Monroe County, Ohio, we find the following information which appears to belong to Benjamin Piatt and his probable family.

On the 1860 census of Washington Twp, Monroe County, Ohio, 899/899:

If the seven year old Benjamin in this family is the same as the one who died at age 24 in 1879 (numbers are close) and the same one who married Isabell Palmer, then we have the probable link to Rene. More work is needed for confirmation, though.

One alternative is that Benjamin was the son of William and Precious Keene?/Ella Brown? Piatt who had a son, Benjamin, born in 1852.

Benjamin Piatt and Isabel Palmer were married on April 7, 1874, by Rev Isaac Williams, in Monroe County, Ohio. (Marriage Book 2, page 18).

Also in Monroe County, on January 2, 1879, a Benjamin F Piatt died, age 24 years (the same Benjamin?) died (no death record cited).

On the 1880 census, of Graysville, Washington Township, Monroe County, Ohio, 180/183:

Are these Piatt twins related to Benjamin and Isabella Palmer Piatt? Could they be daughter born in 1875 after the 1874 marriage and living with some other family after Benjamin's death in 1879? Did Isabella have other young children to care for and needed to allow the two older girls to live with the Flanigans? By the 1900 census, Calvin and Nancy Flanigan were living alone.

Five years after the death of Benjamin Piatt, on January 5, 1884, John McVay and Isabel Piatt were married by J R Camden, JP, Monroe County, Ohio (Marriage Book 3, page 144). The application was by Amos Mobberly. Was this the same Isabel Palmer who was married first to Benjamin Piatt?

Other marriage records which probably pertain to the twin girls are:

Also, August 12, 1998, from Maggie Mkh45@aol.com "My mother-in-laws mother was Rosetta Piatt. She had a twin sister named Sarah; their mother's name was Isabelle Smith or Palmer (mother's name Martha she was married to Benjamin Piatt. I found the twins on a census and at that time they were adopted by a Flanegan family. Isabell Smith was married three times. She was born c1848. Her first husband's name was John Piatt. He died young in 1874. Second she married Fred McVey, he also died. Isabelle then married William or David Parks. She died in 1938. I'm trying to find out if the twins were adopted as my mother-in-law says they weren't...but on Rosetta's death certificate under maiden name it said "not known", seems as though there is some kind of mystery. I have alot of info. on Piatts from near columbus, Ohio. Please let me know if you can help or if you want me to send anything else I have. Thank you, Maggie
