Cornelius and Sovilla Francis Allen Pyatt
Cornelius Pyatt was born in 1838 in Illinois (probably Fayette County) to John F and Millie Browning Pyatt and died in 1873 (probably in Montgomery County, Illinois. He married on April 26, 1861, in Montgomery County, Illinois, Sovilla Francis Allen who was born in 1833 in Illinois to John and Nancy Allen and died in 1921. Their license was for 'Cornelius Pyatt' and 'Sovila F Allen' license #2189. Both Cornelius and 'S Francis' are buried in the Woodside Cemetery, Montgomery County, Illinois.
The known children of Cornelius and Francis:
- Emily Pyatt b: c1869 MO (probably Lafayette Co)
- John F Pyatt b: 1871 MO (probably Lafayette Co) d: 1956 (buried Woodside Cemetery, Montgomery Co, IL)
- Henry T Pyatt b: 1873 MO (probably Lafayette Co) d: 1961 (buried Woodside Cemetery, Montgomery Co, IL)
Since Cornelius died around the time of Henry's birth and Francis appears to have remained a Pyatt, there were no other surviving children. I am somewhat surprised that it would have been eight years into their marriage before they had a child, but, stranger things have been known to happen.
They appeared as follows on the 1870 census of Davis Township, Lafayette County, Missouri:
- Pyatt, Cornelius age 32 born IL / wm / Farmer / $0/$500
- Pyatt, Sovilla F age 31 born IL / wf
- Pyatt, Emily age 1 born MO / wf
This family was enumerated Pg 174 (ancestry image 7/93).
Francis was widowed by the 1880 census and appeared with her parents in Fillmore, Montgomery County, Illinois as follows:

Pyatt, Emely Other S Female W 11 MO IL IL
Pyatt, John Other S Male W 9 MO IL IL
Pyatt, Henry Other S Male W 6 MO IL IL
