Elisha was the son of John and Julia Hornsby Pyeatt. The records on this page all appear (after much consideration) to belong to the same man. The only family that had an Elisha the right age were John and Julia. Their son was aged 10 in 1850 and aged 20 on the 1860 census.
On the 1870 census Elisha and Margrette were in Franklin County - Washington Township - Washington P O, as follows:
This family was enumerated #342/340 pg 339. Nearby was the William (age 30 born MO RR laborer) and Margurette (age 25 born MO) Piat family with son, Allen (age 3/12 born MO in March). I have not yet connected this William to his parents. Also in Washington Twp household #402 on pg 42 was Fred Meyer age 57 (b: c1813) born Prussia. In Boles Township was Elisha's brother, Jacob Pyatt. I looked at every entry in the townships of Boone, Boles, Central and Washington with no additional Piatt/Pyatt or known related lines found. Where was Elisha's mother in 1870?
Maggie's headstone in the Pacific Cemetery, Franklin County reads:
Maggie E wife of Elisha Pyeatt Jan. 30, 1845 - Mar. 23, 1880 Age 35y 1m 23d
So, having just lost his wife by the 1880 census, Elisha appeared as follows in Pacific, Boles Township, Franklin County, Missouri, with the George Hamilton from their 1870 household as follows:
Elisha married second on May 17, 1881, in Franklin County, Missouri, Mary Delm or Meyer who was born in May 20, 1861 (or May 1864) in Illinois. Her death certificate information (provided by her son, Joseph) claims that she was the daughter of Andras Delm, a German. Also, she answered that she was 'Mary Delm' born Illinois on her son, Frederick's, death certificate in 1912. However, on the census entry below Fred Meyer a German immigrant born in June 1832 appeared with the family as a 'father-in-law' of Elisha. Was he a father-in-law by way of Elisha's first wife, Margaret? I have been told that when a Fred Meyer born June 1824 Germany, died he was listed as a widower with a 'niece' Mrs. E Pyeatt. Were these two brothers whose German names were both annotated as Fred? Was the one born June 1832 actually Mary's father or Margaret's father?
Elisha and Mary Pyeatt had the following known children:
Also buried with Elisha's first wife in the Pacific Cemetery, Franklin County, Missouri were Charles E Pyatt 'son of M E and Fred Pyatt July 25, 1881 - August 1, 1881' on a stone with Freddie Pyatt 'son of M E and Fred Pyatt Mar 23, 1885 - Mar 30, 1885'. These are sons of Elisha's brother, Frederick G Pyeatt, who also lived in Franklin County. I'm glad their birth years are so far apart or they might be mistaken for Elisha's sons of the same name.
The entry of Elisha and Mary Meyer Pyeatt from the 1900 Missouri - Franklin County - Boles Township census is as follow:
The family appeared as follows on the 1910 census of Pacific City, Boles Township, Franklin County, Missouri:
Searches for Charles Pyeatt at Ancestry.com did not turn up any likely matches. When using 'Pyeatt' born 1890 +-1 born MO for all of the US - I only found 19 matches with none of the listings looking promising enough to pull up the image. Since Mary said all of her children were living - where was Charles? A search for 'Charles' using born 1890 +-1 in Franklin County, Missouri and St Louis, Missouri, turned up 146 hits - a few possible misreadings of last name such as 'Loffitt' were checked without luck.
In 1912, Elisha and Mary's son, Frederick, died. His death certificate information is as follows
Death Certificate #38909 County: Franklin; Township: Boles; City: Pacific; Registration District: 293; Primary Registration District: 4177; Registered #: 57; Full Name: Frederick John Pyeatt; Sex: male; Race: white; Marital status: Single; Date of birth: 3 / 22 1886; Age: 26 yrs 9 mos 8 ds; Occupation: Laborer; Name of employer: {blank}; Birthplace: Missouri; Name of Father: Elija Payeatt; Birthplace of Father: Missouri; Maiden name of Mother: Mary Delm; Birthplace of Mother: Ill; Informant and address: Mary Pyeatt, Pacific, Mo; Filed: Dec 31, 1912 H A Boothe, MD; Date of Death: 12 / 30 1912; I attended the deceased from 12/9, 1912, to 12/29, 1912, that I last saw him alive on 12/29, 1912, and that death occurred at 7:30 am; Cause of Death: mania a. potu; Duration: don't know; Contributory: {blank}; Duration: {blank}; Physician and address: D. It appears that Mary Pyeatt died a few years later in 1916 and is also buried in Pacific, Franklin County, Missouri. She did not appear on the list of headstone inscriptions from the Pacific cemetery, so, possibly whe is without a headstone. Her death certificate is as follows:

Elisha was on the 1920 census of Ward 2, Pacific City, Franklin County, Missouri as follows:
Elisha died shorty after the 1920 census. His death certificate information is as follows:

One answer to the variations in age attributed to Elisha could be that his information (at least on the death certificate and headstone) were provided by his son, Joseph. This was a bachelor son who did not have the benefit of a wife or sister to help him with the dates. He also shows his lack of knowedge of who his grandparents were - answering 'don't know' to everything on the death certificate. This is in spite of the fact that Elisha's mother lived with the family and died less than 10 years earlier. But, to give him some credit, this birthdate does agree with a lot of the census information. Notwithstanding the 1870 which appears to have a lot of errors and the apparent guesses made in some years. It doesn't explain why Elisha started out as 10 and then 20 years old. But, nothing else except his age on the 1880 census seems terribly close to those answers.
Buried in the Pacific Cemetery in Franklin County, Missouri, where Elisha's first wife is buried is 'Pyeatt, Elisha 16 July 1837 to 26 Nov 1920 Co C 11th. Mo Cav' [one cemetery census gives his year of birth as 1887]. Elisha born 1838-1842 was a Civil War veteran and served in the 11th Missouri Cavalry.
These civil war records appear to belong to one Elisha F Pyeatt who served in both the 3rd Cavalry and the 11th MO per his invalid pension application. He would then be the one listed on the 1890 veteran schedule of Franklin County: Missouri - Union - 3rd Cavalry - Co K/B
To sum up the chain of evidence: Elisha's death certificate (and the lack of anyone else of that name) ties him to the Elisha whose mother, Julia, lived with him in 1910. The son, Frederick, in that household and all other matching information ties that Elisha back to the Elisha in 1910 who had a son, Joseph (who was the informant on the death certificate). While evidence ties him to his first marriage, it is not really important in establishing him as the son of John and Julia Hornsby Pyeatt. I need to see if I can loan a microfilm of newspapers from the Pacific area in 1920 to see if an obituary can be located.
To confuse matters further, there is the Elisha Pyeatt who was married to Francis Bohle and who lived in St Louis and Franklin County, Missouri. He may have been a son of Jacob and Olivia Pyeatt. He was born c1825 and is fairly easy to separate from Elisha F Pyeatt.
I think it would be great if Joseph had property of any kind that had to be distributed to heirs at the time of his death. If Elisha's son was still single at the time of his death and had property, his living relatives would have been named as his heirs. Any brothers, neices and newphews would be detailed in the legal documents. I need to see if there is an indext for 1920-? Franklin County, Missouri, wills and probate. I believe he may be the Joseph J Pyatt who died in St Louis, Missouri, in 1926. But, there was a Joseph J Pyatt in St Louis - a son of William and Maggie. If so, then Elisha's son, Joseph, most likely died after 1940 - the point at which I quit abstracting names from the Missouri state-wide death index.
