James B and Mary Ann Russell Piatt
James B Piatt was born July 10, 1821, in the White Deer Valley,
Pennsylvania (probably Washington Township, Lycoming County) and died February 17, 1888, at Tipton, Cedar County, Iowa. He is the son of William and Hannah Brady Piatt.
James married January 8, 1846, Mary Ann Russell who was born January 13, 1821, in Pennsylvania (probably Lycoming County) and who died died August 13, 1890.

This family was enumerated #450/456 pg 406B (Ancestry.com image 43/51). Living on pg 408 was his father, William, with his second wife and the youngest children along with Barbara Wenzel and Harmon P Allen. Note the name Harmon in both households. A few houses after William was William Piatt senior with his wife, Mary, one of their unmarried daughters along with Charles Lewis and Catharine Manger. On page 408B was James' brother, Brady Piatt. And, in Williamsport Township were Robert and John Piatt who are sons of John and Mary Foresman Piatt.

This family was enumerated #2586/2644 pg 55A (Ancestry.com image 9/31). Also in Brady Township, clustered around page 73A&B were the families of Lydia Piatt (widow of Brady; who also had her brother-in-law, Samuel T Piatt, in her household); James' father, William Piatt, and family; and, James' brother, McCall Piatt, and family. John Piatt was still in Williamsport Township although Robert Piatt is no longer found. I believe I located him in Tipton, Cedar County, Iowa, as 'H C Piatt born 1823 PA (lawyer)'. Cedar County is where Robert's sister, Catherine J Piatt Whitson Stearns had moved before 1859.
By the 1870 census, James and family had moved to Fairfield Township, Cedar County, Iowa, as follows:
