John and Hester Black Piatt

John Piatt was the son of Benjamin and Mary Waddell Piatt. I do not have a year of birth for him although I would guess it to be 1796-1800. Does he have a headstone? He died between 1843 and 1850 (probably in Adams County, Ohio). John had come to Adams County with his parents in 1810. He married August 5, 1824, Adams County, Ohio, Hester 'Hetty' Black who was born c1805 in Ohio.

John and Hetty had the following known children:

John had died previous to the 1850 census; however, Hester and the children appeared as follows:

This family was enumerated #1410/1410 pg 144 (Ancestry.com image 12/37) 30 Aug 1850). Also living in Adams County was the family of Lewis and Elizabeth Piatt Trotter (John's sister) who had a 12-year-old named Lewis Piatt living with them. I have to wonder if this is a different Lewis Piatt or if he lived with the Trotters and was enumerated in both households.

By the 1860 census many of the children have left the home:

This family was enumerated #826/832 pg 115 (ancestry.com image 27/45) 13 Jul 1860. Their neighbors were #821 William Ralston, #822 Jesse Morgan, #823 Robt Piatt, #824 James C Fink, #825 D B Morgan, *, #827 William Smith, and #828 Andrew Smith. Living a few houses away was ?Rubt Piatt who was age 28. Is this the son, John, who was 18 in 1850? It seems most likely that it was. Also in Tiffin Township were John's brothers, Jacob Piatt and Benjamin Piatt and their families and his parents.
