Samuel M and Mary T Marrs Pyeatt

Samuel Miller Pyeatt was born c1824 (probably in Pulaski County, Arkansas) to Peter and Mary "Polly" Miller Pyeatt. On October 26, 1848, Washington County, Arkansas, he married Mary Tattle/Tuttle Marrs who was born July 2, 1832 in Washington County, Arkansas. Samuel died September 19, 1866 in Robertson County, Texas. Mary died in 1898 and is buried in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Bell County, Texas.

Samuel and Mary had the following known children:

Samuel appears for the first time as a head of household on the Cane Hill, Washington County, Arkansas, census of 1850.

Samuel was in the 3rd Arkansas Infantry, State Troops (CSA) and was wounded at Wilson's Creek, Missouri August 1861 (MCP note: Is that the right year?).

By the 1860 census of Ada, Marrs Hill Township, Washington County, Arkansas, they appeared as follows:

This family was enumerated #409 pg 537A ancestry image 59/338. Their neighbors were Francis Fellows, William Woodruff, Francis Woodruff, Pleasant Tucker, and Nancy Petigou.

I do not find Mary anywhere in the US on the 1870 census using various information. I did however find what I believed to be some of their children living under the name Reed in Boonesboro, Cane Hill Township, Washington County, Arkansas. However, further investigation into the 1860 census showed that these children were born to John and E Catherine Reed. So, where were Mary and her children?

Mary died in 1898 in Bell County, Texas. I wonder if she was living with one of her children in Texas or elsewhere. I need to look for additional Texas Pyeatt families.

Arkansas land records which seem to relate to Samuel are as follows:
