William married c1896 (probably St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri) Margaret M "Maggie" Jones who was born February 28, 1875, in Hillsboro, Illinois, to John Jones who was born in Lebanon, Illinois. Maggie died March 9, 1943, at 5228 Lindenwood (her home), St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri, of hemoplagia. Both William and Maggie are buried in the Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri.
William and Maggie had the following known children:
I can't imagine how hard it was for Maggie to lose William when she was so close to delivering baby Roy. Perhaps the stress caused Roy to be born early which would help explain his death at less than three months old from pneumonia (perhaps his lungs weren't fully developed at birth).
'William' appeared with Jacob and Isabella age 6/12 on the 1870 census and age 10 on the 1880 census.
Is this the same William from the 1890 St Louis City Directory?
William and family appeared as follows on the 1900 census of St Louis, St Louis County, Missouri, as follow:
This family was enumerated #331 South Garrison Aveneue District 345 99/345/13/5). The family of Jacob and Isabella was at #1307 Boyle Avenue in District 356. I do not know how far apart these addresses are.
By the 1910 census the family appeared as follows - now at a new address:
This family was enumerated #4222 Vista Avenue (indexed as Pyath) pg 15/36 24th Ward - District 387. Jacob and Isabella were still at the #1307 address and just before that was a boarding house where among other families (Smith, Moore, Eastwood, etc.) lived Jacob and Isabella's daughter, Emma. Then, at 1309 Boyle lived Jacob and Isabella's son, Albert Walter Pyatt. Boyle and Vista are enumerated one right after the other and were in the same neighborhood. I think the enumerator just counted the children in the household and assumed they were the only ones born. The death certificates below show that William and Maggie lost their four-year-old, William E Pyatt, in April. Not long after they lost their two-month-old infant, Roy F Pyatt. Both died of pneumonia.
The death certificates of Roy and William are as follows:

On the 1911 St Louis City Directory, William and others on Vista Avenue appeared as follows:
Charles was a nephew of William's mother, Isabella, by her brother Eldridge Ferdinand Pyatt. Charle's sister, Isabella Decker, lived next door to him at #4233 Vista with her family and their brother Robert. Edward was not Edward S Pyatt the brother of Isabella Pyeatt, but, was probably Edward's son, Edward F Pyatt.
I had no success in locating any of William and Maggie's family on the 1920 census. They were not at the 4222 Vista Avenue address - a Thurmond family was living there. There were too many William and Margaret's to view each one born the right year. There were 47 'Earl's born 1897 +-2 years in St Louis, St Louis County. I viewed each one.
They lost their son, Joseph, to pneumonia in 1926 at their new address at 4223 Arco Street. His death information from Kriegshauser Mortuary is as follows:
Joseph's death certificate provides the following information:
Death Certificate #17575 County: {blank}; Township: {blank}; City: St Louis No: Mo Baptist Sanitarium; Full Name: Joseph J Pyatt; Residence No: 4223 Arco Av; Ward: 9; Registration District: 791; Primary Registration District: 1003; Length of residence in city where death occurred: {blank}; Sex: Male; Race: White; Marital status: Single; Name of Spouse: {blank}; Date of birth: Dec 5, 1907; Age: 18 yrs 4 mos 29 ds; Occupation: at school; Name of employer: {blank}; Birthplace: St Louis, Mo; Name of Father: William E Pyatt; Birthplace of Father: Missouri; Maiden name of Mother: Maggie Jones; Birthplace of Mother: Missouri; Informant and address: William E Pyatt, 4223 Arco Av; Filed: MAY 5, 1926 Max C Starkloff; Date of Death: May 3, 1926; I attended the deceased from 4/29 1926 to 5/3 1926 that I last saw him alive 5/3 1926 and that death occurred at 8:30 pm; Cause of Death: Pneumonia Lobar; Duration: 1 ds; Contributory and duration: Influenza, 5 ds; Was there an autopsy? No; What test confirmed diagnosis: Physical Ligus; Physician and address: J ?Whiuts M.D.; Place of burial or removal: Memorial Park; Date of burial: May 6th 1926; Undertaker: Geo Kriegshauser 4104 Manchester
I can imagine that in 1926 with the flu epidemic killing thousands, that Joseph was probably taken to the Sanitarium for quarantine and died there of pneumonia brought on by his influenza.
By the 1930 census I find them living at the Arco Street address as follows:
This family was enumerated #260/261 at #4222 Arco Street District 185 14 Apr 1930 (Ancestry.com image 31/45). If this child is Earl's (I don't think they had any other sons still living who could be his father), and his age is correct, then Earl must have had a first wife who died or left. William's siblings, Walter Pyatt and Emma O'Neal, and her family were living at #311 Enclid Avenue; their sister, Maud Halla, and family was at #6904 West Avenue and their brother, Harry Pyatt, was in Carondolet Township, St. Louis County, Missouri; and, their brother, Chas B Pyatt, was across the river in East St. Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois.
