[Downstairs Tavern]
Clambering out from the small archway, you suddenly feel as if you are in another world. When once the temple was quiet, now it is quite loud. Dwarves ordering more beer, giantmen ordering more ale. Elves ordering more champagne, and humans ordering more wine. And, when you listen closely, halflings asking for more tarts. Female drink servers pace the floors, offering elixer to those who haven't found a seat yet. Crests and weapons line the stone walls, and flickering chandaliers hang from the ceiling. Off in a corner there is a troubadore and a songstress, skillfully weaving music and verse. Glancing around you follow the stairway leading away from the archway and following the walls, moving slowly down until you've reached the floor. You cringe when you realize that you were more than fifteen feet high, and there was nothing between the edge of the stairway and the hard wood floor. Surveying the area you see a bar to one side, and a fireplace at the other. In between are many tables, crowded with different patrons of varying trades. You slowly realize that each table's group is of the same fashion. At one table six dwarves are drinking beer and discussing axes. At another table eight highly-decorated hobbits merrily talk of bartering whilst munching on tarts.

Obvious paths: Up
You catch the drink server as she goes by and ask which table you should seat yourself at.
"Well", she says, "it depends on what you are here for. If you are interested in the ways of a warrior, you should like the Swinging Swords table. If you are interested in the ways of a cleric you would like Lorminstra's Light table. If healing is your trade, you would like the Bundled Herbs table. Interested in the trade of a ranger? Try the Singing Bows table. Would learning the ways of a sorcerer suit your fancy? Seek the Magicks Disruption table."
The server pauses to listen to the next verse of the songstress's song. She then turns back to you and talks more.
"Interested in blessing Elanith with historic poetry and moving verse? Seat yourself at the Lilting Lyre table. If you are interested in a rogue's trade, you would like the Scorching Scarabs table. And if you would ike to learn the ways of a wizard, go to the Elemental Distractions table. And if you are new to Elanthia, try the Growling Rat table."
The server starts to leave, but then turns back to you.
"By the way, many new people come and go from here. So come back to the tables often"
The server then smiles pleasently and hurries off to aid an impatient patron of the bar.
