In a beautiful wooded glen, Jamie MacKinnion first saw the enchanting Sheena Fergusson bathing in a pool. Distracted by the water sprite, Jamie is captured by his Lowland enemies, the Fergussons, never dreaming she is one of them. With the help of an unlikely ally, he is able to escape and return to his Highland home. Banished as a traitor for protecting her brother, Sheena is sent to an aunt in Aberdeen, where she does not escape the notice of a young Highlander who insists on taking her home and making her his bride. Once there she finds herself in Castle MacKinnion and face to face with her dreaded enemy, the MacKinnion himself! Jamie, overjoyed at finding his dream girl again, cannot understand her fear of him, but vows to remove it. Over time Sheena grows to love the enemy but can't admit it, and family treacheries must be revealed before peace is won and love conquers all.
