So Speaks The Heart

Copyright 1988 Johanna Lindsey.

When Rowland of Montville finds beautiful Bridgette de Louroux in the woods, he takes her for a runaway slave and returns her to the estate she has fled from. Bridgette's hopes are crushed as the warrior takes her back to her home - a home where her new stepmother treats her like a servant, held captive from any outside help. Rowland's mistake leads the woman to force Bridgette on him as a slave, and so he grudgingly takes her to his home. Bridgette distrusts and hates Rowland for his part in this treachery, but she cannot fight the feelings the handsome knight's body stirs in hers. In Montville, she faces the harsh realities of the world Rowland has grown up in, and her heart opens to his. Many secrets must be revealed before Rowland and Bridgette can find the happiness they seek.
