Missing Childhood
Time goes by with lightnin' speed'
Jus' can't keep up with the days,
Remember when young,
How long the summers were?
Lasting forever and more?
Days of the child seemed longer,
Youth has no concept of time,
With age comes wisdom and fear,
I'm just as busy now as then,
The difference is years.
I try so hard to retain,
The child I never understood,
Entrap the feelings I never had,
Remember friends I never knew,
In time I grew up too fast.
Missed all the things of childhood,
Getting on, can't catch the past,
Nothing for me in present,
See no hope for future,
Daily existance behind the times.
