Retreat

I see petals in the sky,

Floating on blue waves of air,

Stem-less roses sailing high,

Alighting softly, sur la mer.

Words glisten in teardrop form,

They fall from weightless eyes,

Clouded over, orbs look of scorn,

Upon the sadness, loneliness cries.

Butterflies cast dark shadows,

Upon the ground surrounding,

Blotting sun from my world below,

Colours darken, continue fluttering.

Horrors of reality can be blocked out,

Afraid to live in the now,

Past has scarred, couldn't scream out,

Now retreated within my skull.

Step outside on occasion,

To drink the lies about,

Then go back into my vision,

Try to figure mankind out.

I have found no answers,

Only live day to day,

Can not find another romancer,

Am I the only one of which to say?

Return within the flowering air,

Where images seem so real,

A world where love is truly there,

With no one to make me feel.
