Krapp are wooden or bamboo clappers that had disappeared from the pin-peat orchestra about 6 decades ago, and now have been replaced by the chhing.   However krapp shared the same role as the chhing accompanying the choir of male and female singers in the orchestra as well as keeping the tempo.  Also it is sometimes used in the orchestra every now and then with the chhing creating two different sound contrasts.  Apart from accompanying classical dance krapp also accompanies folk dances also including robam krapp (bamboo clappers dance) and other traditional orchestras.

There are different kinds of krapp that comes in different shapes and sizes like krapp kou (paired clappers) and krapp phuorng that looks much similar to an open fan and would be used be used by voicalists and mistresses of classical dance to keep time for their students which is considered important as well as performances.
