Conversation Heart
(love, respect)
< Previous----Next>
Inspired by the popularity of candy conversation hearts around Valentine's
Day, this heart shows two people in an engaging conversation, expressing mutual
love and respect. Throughout history, the heart was thought to be the seat
of human emotions. The ancient Egyptians believed that the heart was the center
of life and morality. When a person died, their heart was weighed against
the feather of Maat, the goddess of Justice. If the heart was heavy with wicked
deeds and weighed more than the feather, it was fed to the crocodile-headed
demon, Ammit. Made from glazed red earthenware clay, the back of this limited
edition piece displays the artist's signature stamp and the LQP chop mark.
