Horse with Oak Leaves
(endurance, strength)
< Previous----Next>
In the Ukrainian egg-making tradition of pysanky, the horse symbolizes endurance,
speed, and the motion of the sun as it is pulled across the sky by a horse.
Oak leaves represent strength and persistence. Because the oak’s leaves
fall in autumn and renew in the spring, they also represent the change of
season and the cycle of life and death. Made from glazed red earthenware clay,
the back of this limited edition piece displays the artist's signature stamp
and the LQP chop mark, 1 1/2" high.
