Mother Goose
(fairy tales)
< Previous----Next>
Inspired by the many birds on early Greek and Celtic pottery, the primitive
quality of this bird image reflects the archaic nature of some of the original
Mother Goose rhymes and fairy tales. Lore has it that the ”real"
Mother Goose- Elizabeth or Mary Goose is buried in the Granary Burial Ground
in Boston, along with Samuel Adams and John Hancock, among others. View photos
of her grave by doing a search for "Mother Goose" at findagrave.com.
Made from glazed red earthenware clay, the back of this limited edition piece
displays the artist's signature stamp and the LQP chop mark, 1 5/8" high.
