The exhibition includes a selection of important works by legendary American designer Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933), one of the most influential shapers of taste in America during the early 20th century. Inspired by the richness of medieval stained glass windows, Tiffany developed a unique process for formulating glass that allowed him to create bolder colors, exquisite opalescent sheens and a broad range of textures in his designs. Lamps were a major part of Tiffany's production, and represented the ideal manifestation of his lifelong interest in light, color and nature. The exhibition features 43 lamps and two windows from the Neustadt Collection, one of the most significant private collections of Tiffany in existence. The exhibition illustrates the development of Chadwick's style from totemic early figures to graceully contoured and geometrically elegant late works.
