Shepherd DUSTY ROAD (1996) Like many debuts, Dusty Road is marred somewhat by scratchy production, and a muddy mix of mainly vocals and guitar. But an energetic acoustic spirit supports these eight thoughtful, reviving songs, themed around the return from denial and deep-rooted hypocrisy. Because of the simple melodies, and the understated rhythm of the disc, Dusty Road is easily compared to Caedmon's Call's debut and remains a favorite for acoustic music fans. Shepherd Having met Dieter personally, and heard him play at the Door in Dallas, TX, I can say confidently he is a genuine person with a real heart for the Lord. His set included "Overcome" and "In Your Love," both of which sounded album-quality even though he had only an unplugged acoustic guitar. |
