A
subtext episode is an episode which in writing, dialogue or
acting indicates that Xena and Gabrielle is a romantic couple.

|
The
famous looks and touches, impulsive ways and talks. The friendship's
intensity, in short words. That intensity is far beyond the
typical "best friends" relationship. They are soulmates
and one awakes the other with tender kisses whenever these others
are surrounded by fire rings. I'd call that maintexty subtext.

Any
cuddling, snuggling, kissing or looooooong hugging. Tender signs
of affection in a manner that transcends the ordinary friendship.
|
|
Typical
couple comments, comebacks and manners.
X & G have been travelling together as best friends/couple
for so long that they've started to imitate each others little
habits and the way they look and think sometimes. Usually they
react to things in a very couple-like manner.

The
symbolic languages used in the episodes and the show in general.
That can be color symbols, attributes or scenery/props. If there
ever was a saying 'bout "everything has a purpose",
then the symbolic language of XWP so far would wipe out all
doubts that ever were.
