Who am I ?

Hello, My name is Serhat Cetinturk.

I am 27 years old Ph.D. student, living in Istanbul.

I am a Post Doctoral fellow at Istanbul Technical University,

Institute of Science and Technology,

Architecture Department, Architectural Design Program (2002).

Why I have designed the site ?

The site is designed for the architecture or urban students and academic  people making research on Fener Balat Row Houses. The basic content of the site is an image database of maps, facade drawings and photos of Fener and Balat Row Houses. I have also added my studies and course assignments that maybe helpful for the researchers.

All the photos,  facade drawings and maps of row and corner houses of Fener and Balat used for the shape grammar and typological study, are taken from the archive of Urban and Regional Planning Department of Mimar Sinan University. The original study is a workshop assignment carried out by students, 35/50cm paper size format. (2001-spring) The Pictures are scanned, grouped and later coded to have data arranged in categories for the study.

Other pictures and images are collected from web resources and some of them I have taken with my digital cam.

The Typological Study part has presented by my self as an assignment for "Typological Analysing Methods" course that I have taken in spring semester year 2001.

Shape Grammar Study part is for assignment of "Productive Systems in Architectural Design" course that I have taken during  spring semester year 2002.

And finally, least but not the last I have designed the web site as an assignment for my "Hypermedia and Internet Applications in Design" course that I have taken during spring semester 2002.

The applications that were used during design and creation process;

The site was designed using Microsoft FrontPage2002 and HotDogPro version 6. I used Swish version 2.0 for the MacroMedia Flash animation on start up page. 3D modelling of the row house was done in AutoCAD2002, other dwg drawings were drafted in AutoCAD2000. For all the image and graphics editing thanks to Jasc Software group for Paint Shop Pro and to AcDc group for PicaView.

Special Thanks to the Faculty of Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning Department of Mimar Sinan University and to my sister, Sinem Cetinturk  for supplying all the image data material that was used for the study part.

I hope the site will be useful for all those students and academic people out there making research or designing project for the Fener - Balat Region in Istanbul.
