If
you really enjoyed looking at all the fractals at World of
Fractals, here's a chance for you to create your very own
fractals. The programs available here for download range from
simple fractal creation programs for beginners to more complex
programs that let you create your own functions. Most of these
downloads are less than 500k, and a lot aren't even 100k, so
don't worry about excessive download times.
- Fractint, on the Fractint WWW pages is
far-and-away the best and most popular fractal program,
used to make almost all of the fractals on this site.
Although people who have never used fractals before might
need to read through the F1 help, it is very complete so
nobody should have trouble making fractals. * * * *

- Aros Fractals by Aros systems
is one of the most user-friendly fractal programs around,
and creates nice looking fractal images of 3 different
types (including Mandelbrot and dynamic) * * * ½

- The Fractal Orbits Program is good for both beginners and experts. As a
beginner, you will have to experiment with some of the
settings to get nice fractals, and it is pretty limited,
but a good starter program.* * * Download

- Ultra Fractals - This program by Ultra Fractals Inc.
offers many significant improvements from Fractint,
including a much more user-friendly environment and
antialiasing capabilities. The downsides are the lack of
versatility because of the Windows interface, the lack of
built in functions, and that it is Shareware (after
30-day trial). * * * * Download

- Xaos - Although this program by Xaos Inc. isn't the
most powerful fractal tool, many novices will enjoy it
because, besides having fun filtering effects, it allows
real-time zooming. This means you can zoom smoothly into
the fractal. This tool is not for serious fractal
creators. * * * ½ Download
