Dance Prodductions The Hong Kong Ballet Legend of the Great Archer To celebrate Hong Kong Ballet's 25th anniversary, Artistic Director Stephen Jefferies has created a powerful new ballet - Legend of the Great Archer - inspired by the classic Chinese folk tale. The story about Yi, the Archer God, sent to Earth to help the Emperor extinguish the many suns scorching his land, is a broad framework for the ballet's underlying tangle of emotions. But the heat on the stage isn't just from the ten suns hovering in the sky. Jefferies' sexy full-length ballet sizzles with passion, jealousy, intrigue and murder. The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra will perform the original score by award-winning composer Kuan Nai Chung, and innovative multimedia effects enhance the dynamic staging. Following Hong Kong's world première of Legend of the Great Archer, this neo-classical ballet will be featured in the Company's major North American tour. Director
