Reason behind the name: After watching Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, I had the clever idea of making the AIM sn, "joanofarcenciel." Why is it clever? Tis a combination between "Joan of Arc" and "Arc~en~Ciel," a J-rock band whose name means "rainbow." Joan's name represents anime and music and the mood that goes along with those things. Tis good that I'm combining the anime brain and music brain, because I never knew which brain I was when I was singing a song from an anime. ^.^' And I picked "Shark" for her last name because it is "Arc" spelled with a "K" (because K's are better than C's) and an added "Sh" to be similar to her twin's last name (Jenna Sheng).

Reason behind the brain: Sai Meichikage (Bytamic) > Annmarie (Dacs) > Anmarie (Nidarcs-Shama) + Musette = Joan
Music and anime have played an important role in my life, and the music and anime I like reflect the kind of person I am. I first started listening to the radio a lot in fifth grade when I got a boombox, but I didn't really get crazy about music until eighth grade. I started out listening to light rock. I was always more fond of older music from the 1960s, but I didn't listen to it on the radio because the oldies station had too many commercials. Once I got a digital radio that could be programmed, I listened to many more stations. Since I mainly use the radio as my tool to listen to music, I often don't know the band or title of the songs I like or dislike. If you're wondering why I don't buy CDs instead, you can read about why here. Also, I took piano lessons from age 6 to age 11, but I didn't start appreciating it until eighth grade. I still play the piano, but usually only when I'm on vacation from school.
As for anime, I got into it by watching Sailor Moon at my friend's house on July 4th, 1997 when I was 11 years old. You can read more about the details here. Sailor Moon was my first anime and will always be one of my favorites.

Likes: singing, watching anime, playing the piano, reading manga.

Anime - I like to try all kinds of different anime, but I'm picky about which ones I really like. I like serious, sad, romantic, complicated, thought-provoking anime. Comedy and action are good too, but not necessary for me to enjoy the show. I tend to most like anime that fit into the shoujo and fantasy genres.
Here's a list of my favorite shows: Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, Blood +, Code Geass, Death Note, Earth Maiden Arjuna, Elfen Lied, Eureka Seven, Fushigi Yuugi, Inuyasha, Kino no Tabi, Kodomo no Omocha, Noein, Now and Then, Here and There, Please Save My Earth, Serial Experiments: Lain, Shadow Star Narutaru, Speed Grapher, Tenkuu no Escaflowne, .hack//sign, Ayashi no Ceres, Boogiepop Phantom, Dragonball Z, Full Metal Alchemist, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Magic Knight Rayearth, Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok, Nana Seven of Seven, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Scrapped Princess, Tokyo Godfathers, Trigun, Tsukihime Lunar Legend, Vampire Princess Miyu, X.
Shadow Star Narutaru is my favorite manga.

Music I love:
1. Oldies from the 1960s (e.g., Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Rolling Stones, Supremes)
2. Songs with interesting lyrics (e.g., Bright Eyes, Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day, Moody Blues, Simon and Garfunkel, Weird Al)
3. Slow songs (e.g., "Fields of Hope," "Gravity," "Forever Love," "Life is Like a Boat," "Lilium," "Ningyo Hime")
4. Rock - mostly the soft or light kind (e.g., Abba, Alanis Morissette, Bette Midler, Billy Joel, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, U2)
5. Songs with a singer that has a clear, angelic-like voice (e.g., Nightwish, REO Speedwagon, Sarah Brightman, Within Temptation)
6. Music with real instruments, particularly strings and/or piano (e.g., "Sadame," Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Yuki Kajiura)

Music that is just ok:
1. classical
2. country
3. new age
4. pop
5. religious
6. rock - the harder kind

Music I almost always hate:
1. acoustic
2. blues
3. disco
4. emo
5. gothic
6. heavy metal
7. hip-hop
8. jazz
9. opera
10. punk
11. rap
12. reggae
13. screamo
14. techno

Other Dislikes: mecha, hentai, random anime like Excel Saga, music remakes, paying for music (so that means CDs and concerts), people who like or dislike music based alone on the lyrics or people who sing the song, dub-haters, 3d animation, people who hate anime, yet have never given it a chance; anime fans who try to *become* Japanese by forcing themselves to like sushi, and other things to feel Japanese; so-called anime fans who lose interest by moving on to J-pop and J-rock; fans that claim to be a die-hard fan of a certain show and then soon after a while (like in a year or so), they don't like it at all.

AIM screen names: joanofarcenciel, a1waysawoman, ihavradionmyhed, morningange1, thepianogir1

Theme songs: "Flash Dance" by Irene Cara, "Wunderkind" by Alanis Morissette, "It's Still Rock and Roll To Me" by Billy Joel, "I Need to be in Love" by Carpenters, "Haruka" by Pierrot (ending theme for Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne) and other anime songs (yes, pretty much all of them describe me)
