Spring 2001 Conference

  The Spring 2001 District 3 Conference came to a applauding close with the award presentations to the three Spring Speech Contests finalists. 
The First Place trophy was captured by Paul Schnable, representing the Cholla Division, Area C2, from Premium Toastmasters #9555. 
Second Place: Harry Huffman Pauite Division, Area P-2, of Park Central. 
Third Place: Laura Molinaro, Yavapai Division, Area Y-5,Antelope Valley #9007

District 3 Club Newsletter Contest
Lt Governor Michael Herskovits, ATM, announced the District 3 Newsletter Contest Winners at the Spring Conference. "All entries are to be congratulated for doing a wonderful job communicating to their members and potential members," he added. "The judging was difficult for all the entries and the following winners were:

Honorable Mention Awards were presented to: “THE SQUEAK” - Voice of Motorola #2083, Editor - Bernie Fuzat and to “CASAS CHRONICLE” - Northwest Casa Adobes #5417, Editor - Judy Norris.

Third Place was awarded to: “THE BLASTER’S BUGLE” - Sound Blasters Toastmasters #8722, Editor - Brian Cavanaugh.

Second Place was awarded to: “THE EXPRESS” - State Expressions #5668, Editor ? Gloria Diaz.

First Place was awarded to: “PAPAGO PERIODICAL” - Papago Toastmasters #2694, Editor - Cathy Campbell.

Brenda Bird Wins First Timers Contest
At each District Conference a First Timers Contest is held," said Mike Herskovits, "to help those that are coming to their first District Conference become more acquainted with other Toastmasters and to help Toastmasters become acquainted with the newer Toastmasters. It is a great contest with many rewards for all those involved. At the Spring Conference we had many participants in the contest and there was stiff competition to determine the winner. Congratulations to all the participants and to all those that helped all the first timers feel welcome."

Coming in 3rd Place was Kathy Shoemaker from People Chatter #5203. The Runner-up was Cam Quan of Raytheon Roadrunners #7490. The winner of this First Timer award was presented to Brenda Bird of Premium #9555.


District 3's Communicaiton and Leadership Award was presented to Marshall Trimble, Arizona's official Historin. He is a native Arizona who is one of the state's most popular and colorful personalities. A sought after speaker, Trimble is a prolific writer, apppears on stage, radio, and televison as a humorist and storyteller.
