"THE MOLE" - SEASON 2
OFFICIAL RULES
- GAME DESCRIPTION:
"The Mole" is a reality/game show ("Program") produced
by Gonzo Productions, Inc. ("Producer") for Stone Stanley
Entertainment in association with TTTi for initial broadcast on the American
Broadcasting Companies, Inc. ("ABC") Television Network in
2001-2002. In the Program, fourteen (14) strangers will live together in the
United States and/or in a foreign country for approximately six (6)
consecutive weeks and engage in a series of tasks and quizzes to earn money
for the group. Each Task is assigned a cash value ranging from several
thousand dollars to several hundred thousand dollars, which is awarded to
the group and put into a "pot" if the task is successfully
completed. If all the tasks are successfully completed, then the pot will
contain $1,000,000. However, one member of the group will be posing as a
Contestant, but in fact will be a "Mole" inserted in the group by
the production company with the aim of preventing the group's success. At
the end of each round of tasks, the Contestants will take a quiz answering
questions about the Mole and the Contestant with the least number of correct
answers in the slowest time is eliminated. The tasks and quizzes continue
and Contestants are eliminated until one (1) Contestant is left to take home
all of the money the group has earned and the Mole is finally revealed. All
decisions regarding the Program, including but not limited to, rules,
eligibility, Contestant selection, Program production, game play, Tasks,
Quizzes, Contestant elimination and award of prizes, are at Producer's sole
and exclusive discretion, are final and not subject to appeal.

Requirements, then that Semi-Finalist will not be eligible to be a
Contestant. Thirteen (13) Contestants will be chosen at the sole

choose two (2) "alternate" Contestants, one male and one
female.
- Selection of Semi-Finalists and Contestants shall be made by Producer
based on such criteria as Producer shall determine, which may be
subjective. Producer is selecting Semi-Finalists and Contestants which
it determines in its sole discretion to be, among other things,
outgoing, adventurous, physically and mentally fit, and to have
interesting and diverse life styles and personalities. Producer is not
obligated to select anyone, even if someone meets all eligibility
requirements and all criteria for selection. Producer's decision
regarding the selection of Semi-Finalists and Contestants is final and
not subject to challenge or appeal. Producer is not obligated to have
any Contestant appear on the Program and Producer shall have the right
at all times and in its sole discretion to remove or replace any
Contestant in connection with the Program for any reason or no reason.
Even if a Contestant participates on the Program or any part thereof,
Producer is not obligated to broadcast or otherwise use or exploit the
Program or any part thereof.
- By entering, each applicant agrees to release, discharge and hold
harmless the Producer from all claims and damages arising out of his/her
participation in the contest, and to authorize the use of his/her name,
voice and likeness used at Producer's discretion as part of the Program,
or as part of promotions for the Program, in any and all media now known
or hereafter devised. Semi-Finalists will sign releases to this effect.
- GAME PLAY:
- Overview: In the Program, thirteen (13) Contestants and one
"Mole" are presented with up to four (4) Tasks to complete in
approximately a forty eight (48) hour time period (a "Round").
With each Task that is completed, the Players earn money, which is put
in a single "pot". At the end of each Round, the Players take
a Quiz of up to twenty five (25) questions about the Mole. The
Contestant with the least number of correct answers is immediately
eliminated from the Program. To maintain confidentiality, and for other
production reasons, Contestants eliminated from game play may be
required, at the sole discretion and expense of Producer, to remain at
or near the production location until the production of the Program is
completed. The Tasks and Quizzes continue for twelve (12) Rounds, until
two (2) Players remain. One of the two (2) remaining Players is revealed
as the Mole, and the other Player is declared the winner and awarded all
the prize money in the "pot."
- Tasks: The Players must work throughout the Program to accomplish
various Tasks presented to them by the Host and/or Producer. The Players
will be presented with up to four (4) Tasks to complete during each
Round of play. Each Round will occur over approximately forty eight (48)
hours (excluding travel days or rest days, as Producer deems necessary).
The Host and/or Producer will explain the Task and the specific rules
applicable to each Task to the Players. Each Task will have a reward, to
be determined by the Producer. Most rewards will be cash, which if
earned, will be put in the group's "pot." The Producer will
predetermine the amount of prize money to be rewarded for each completed
Task. At Producer's sole discretion, either all or only a few of the
Players will participate in a certain Task. The Producer will determine
in their sole discretion the exact method, manner and form of rules
explanation, and assignment of Players to Tasks, including but not
limited to assignment of roles, teams, and partners (e.g. The Producer
may choose which Players will participate in a Task, and/or in what
capacity; the Producer may ask the Players to vote and/or nominate who
will participate in a Task, and in what capacity.)
- Task Completion: The Producer will determine at their sole and
exclusive discretion whether a Task was successfully completed and
whether any Players violated any game or Task rules while attempting to
complete the Task. The decision of the Producer regarding Task
completion and rule violations will be final. No appeals will be
accepted under any circumstances. The amount of prize money in the
"pot" will grow as the Players continue to successfully
complete Tasks. At Producer's sole discretion, Players may be
"fined" amounts of money as determined by the Producers (i.e.
a portion of accumulated winnings will be deducted from the
"pot") when one or more Contestants (including the Mole) break
any of the Official Rules or any rule pertaining to game play.
- Quiz: After each Round, the Players must take a Quiz containing up to
twenty five (25) questions about the identity of the "Mole."
The Quiz will be administered via computer by the Host and the Producer.
Each Player will answer questions about the "Mole", such as
"What was the Mole wearing today?" or "Does the Mole wear
glasses?" or "What did the Mole have for breakfast
today?" In each Round each Player will take the same Quiz with the
same questions. The Player with the least number of correct answers will
be immediately eliminated from the group. In the event of a tie, the
Player who took the longest amount of time to complete the Quiz is
eliminated. The Player who is eliminated must not speak with other
Players as they exit the Program. The Players will not be told the
correct answers, or which questions they answered correctly or
incorrectly.
- The Mole: The Mole selection process is confidential and solely at the
Producer's discretion. The Mole shall be employed by Producer and shall
be placed in the game by Producer prior to commencement of game play.
The Mole will take the Quizzes with all of the Contestants, but the
Producer will not count the Mole's Quiz for the purposes of Contestant
elimination. Therefore, the Mole cannot be eliminated from the game. The
identity of the Mole is not revealed until one (1) Contestant is left.
With the revealing of the Mole, the last Contestant is deemed the winner
of all the prize money.
- PRIZES:
- First Prize Winner: The last Contestant who has correctly answered the
most questions correctly about the Mole in the least amount of time is
deemed the winner and takes home a cash award equal to the amount that
has accrued in the "pot." The winner will be awarded their
prize money in one (1) lump sum. Prize money will be awarded to the
winner within thirty (30) days following the broadcast of the last
episode, provided Player meets all requirements of Producer. The winner
is responsible for all taxes on prize money.
- Second through Twelfth Place Winners: All Contestants eliminated will
receive cash prizes on a structured scale to be determined by the
producers prior to the commencement of recording the Program, with
increasing amounts awarded to Contestants the longer they stay in the
game. Second through twelfth cash prizes will be awarded within thirty
(30) days following the broadcast of the last episode, provided
Contestant meets all requirements of Producer. Contestants are
responsible for all taxes on any prizes they receive, if applicable.
- TRAVEL:
- Semi-Finalists: Up to sixty (60) Semi-Finalists will be flown to Los
Angeles from their local airport for final interviews between
approximately April 29 and May 5, 2001. The trip consists of: (i)
roundtrip economy air transportation to and from the airport closest to
Semi-Finalist's home, or ground transportation, if the person lives
within a 250 mile radius of Los Angeles, CA, (ii) hotel accommodations
for up to four (4) days (iii) ground transportation in Los Angeles, CA
to and from airport/hotel and hotel/studio, and (iv) per diem of forty
($ 40) dollars per full day's stay in Los Angeles (not to include travel
days). Actual length of stay, number of hotel nights and per diem, if
any, are dependent on how long Producer wishes to keep the Semi-Finalist
for interviews.
- Finalists: Thirteen (13) Contestants and two (2) alternates will be
selected from the Semi-Finalists. The Players and alternates will be
flown from their local airport to an unknown destination somewhere in
the world, and will be allowed to bring a limited number of items which
Player must be able to carry him/herself (bags subject to search by
Producer at any time for illegal or inappropriate items and ABC
Television Network Standards and Practices purposes). Each Player is
responsible for also bringing a valid passport and one (1) other form of
photo identification with them. From approximately May 24, 2001 through
about July 12, 2001, game play will include: (i) roundtrip economy
airfare, train fare, bus fare, taxi fare, or other such transportation
for each specific trip during the game, (ii) all hotel accommodations,
and (iii) per diem or meals. Final transportation following game play
will include economy airfare to return Player to the airport closest to
his/her house. Actual number of hotel nights, mode of transportation,
per diem, and meals provided, if any, are dependent upon the Producer's
decisions regarding game play.
- JUDGING:
Void where prohibited. This Program is being conducted under the supervision
of Gonzo Productions, Inc. By applying, each Player accepts and agrees to be
bound by these rules and by the decisions of Gonzo Productions, Inc. which
are final and binding on all matters relating to all aspects of the game and
Program, including, but not limited to whether Tasks were successfully
completed and results of the Tasks and Quizzes. Rules and dates are subject
to change. Producer reserves the right to change the number of Tasks,
Rounds, Quizzes, and Quiz questions on the Program along with any other
rules or regulations at any time. Producer reserves the right to disqualify
any Contestant it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the
operation of the contest, acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner
and/or with intent to accuse, threaten or harass another person, colluding
with other contestants to share prize winnings, or in violation of these
Official Rules or other rules then in effect. Disqualification may result
in, among other things, immediate forfeiture of any prize otherwise awarded.
Further, if in Producer's sole discretion an exigent circumstance has
occurred, Producer reserves the right to terminate or modify the contest,
and/or choose an alternate Contestant to take the place of a Contestant that
is unable to participate, for whatever reason provided such occurs before
game play has begun.
- TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES:
Neither ABC, TTTI, Stone Stanley Entertainment, Gonzo Productions, Inc.,
"The Mole II" production personnel, participating television
stations, advertisers and/or sponsors, nor any of their respective parents,
affiliates, subsidiaries, officers, directors, or employees ("Released

to reasons beyond the Released Parties' control including, but not limited
to, unavailability due to heavy use. Released Parties shall not be liable
for any individual's inability to apply to be a part of the Program in the
event of such unavailability. If a technical difficulty, mechanical failure,
human error, act of God or other abnormality affecting the Program occurs
during the taping of the Program, the Producer will review the situation on
a case-by-case basis and take appropriate action in its sole discretion to
preserve the integrity of the Program.
