Just for Beginners

So you're a new player, and you want to learn more about Magic? Or you have no clue how to play, but it sounds pretty cool so you want to get into it? Well, you have come to the right place! Here you can find out most of the info you need to become a champion.

Section 1: Getting Started

If you have no cards at all, you can't play. You need at least 40 cards for you, and then another 40 cards for your opponent. Have your opponent buy his/her own cards! I wouldn't go buying boosters though, cause you wouldn't get enough land. You'll learn what cards to buy in the next section.

Section 2: What cards to buy

buy some newer cards, have them help you pick them out, and skip this section. If you have to teach yourself, read on. I would advise buying one of those Portal packs that teach you how to play. Just don't buy too many Portal cards because once you move on, you won't use them.

Section 3: Playing

If I tried to list all the rules of Magic here, one it would take up too much space, two you probably don't want to read them all, and three I don't have that much time to type that. So I'll just go over the basic steps of a turn. We'll say that your opponent went first and their turn is over.
1.) Untap anything that is tapped
2.)Do anything that happens 'during your upkeep'
3.) Draw one card from your deck
4.) Put cards out.
5.) Attack
6.) Discard any cards that need to be discarded (cleanup)
7.) Tell your opponent to go, 'cause your turn is done!

Section 4: Learning More and Moving On

Well, there is only so much you can learn here. I'm just trying to help people get some idea what they're doing so that don't go blow all there money on Fallen Empires and have all these worthless cards. If you want to learn more about Starter, go to www.wizards.com. If you've gotten your cards, and you need some deck ideas or combos, check out decks and combos.
