What's the shape of YOUR heart?

Shape of My Heart, In Video Form

"It's kind of organic, raw… us."

THANK YOU, Kevin. You provided yet another intro quote to a video review. You ROCK.

Anyway, when I first heard the words "no concept," visions of Quit Playing Games flashed through my mind. And I was scared. If they were to have just stood around singing, and then have rain fall on them, this video would have killed me. That would've sucked.

But, instead, we got somewhat of a concept. And that's exciting.

I'm thinking that "Shape of My Heart" is the Nick and AJ video. They capture my favorite moments, and my comments. Love them all, but AJ and Nick take the cake on this one. I guess I'm seeing more of their "organic" side.

I LOVE this part. It's the best part in the whole video. Watching AJ do the awesome background vocals.

In fact, all of his hand motions ROCK: on the word "tragical" we got typical AJ exaggeration, and on "yo-ou can," he reminds me of the IWITW "it's to-oo late" move.

AJ=video god

What's this called? Oh, yeah, a peeping tom. (peeping Nick, whatever) Who understands WHY they're under the table? What happened to just "hanging out"?
More Nick Moments:
Director: "You can run your hand through your hair..." C'mon, Nick, you can. Just... pick up... the hand... push through... DAMN. Do it already.

Nick drops the papers. Cut to woman and her "perspective." Cut back to Nick, ending his solo. He's throwing the papers - the ones already dropped, mind you - into the air. Consistency gone. But I love that part nevertheless.

AJ I'm-a-badass McLean looks awesome. I like. Not the biggest fan of the "boredom"-curing chin piercing, on ANYONE, but the beanie and sunglasses are classic AJ, and that's not a bad thing this time.
Ah, the Kev laugh. The nose scrunch. Or, as I like to call it, the "weasel" look.

Kevin's not exactly shown a whole lot in the video, which is upsetting on one point (the whole fairness issue), but okay on the other hand (the hand that wants to wield the pair of scissors that cuts the hair).

The wall, according to the director, is for the dramatic scenes. All I see is yet another place where Howie and Nick are standing next to each other. And it's also the place where Kevin stands apart and is seen trying to move. (I think he calls it dancing.) Minimally fond of the "wall."
I like the hanging out/smiling/normal thing. I really do. Check out Brian's never-ending cuteness.
Howie enraptures me in this video. I'm not really fond of the whole "Jesus look" but look how cute he is! His smile is just endearing.

Granted, this isn't the best capture of him, but I had to use it, 'cause just take a look at the stars of the video, AJ and Nick.

Howie: Hey, Kevin, how can we show that AJ's kept in the dark?
Kevin: The song's, uh, not really about AJ being in the dark, D...
Howie shakes his head furiously: How can we do it, KEVIN?
Kevin: Um, we could cover his eyes with that ever-present beanie of his?
Howie: YEAH!

Thazzit. The video earns a hearty 2 BSB thumbs up from me. For a first single, and one that isn't up-tempo, and doesn't require a video chock full of picky choreography, "Shape of My Heart" works.

Back, take me back
