Chapter Three:
One More Night

*The Next Morning*

Ring, Ring, Ring

I opened my eyes almost as soon as I heard the telephone ringing. I didn't want Nick to answer, or anyone else for that matter. I knew it was Fox, and I had to answer it. I sat up quickly and grabbed my cordless.

"Hey baby." I replied.

"How'd you know it was me?" he asked me.

"I told you to call me at 9am, and it's 9am, so..." I giggled.

"Oh, ok." he answered. "So... I'm going to pick you up at noon, and we'll spend the day together."

"That sounds awesome. I can't wait. I really don't want you to go back to school next week. I'll miss you so much." I told him. He was going to College here in Jackson. He didn't want to stop his education.

"You'll keep yourself busy, don't worry." he answered.

Before I could say anything else, a heard a voice calling my name.

"Fay-Fay!!! Are you awake?"

I knew it was Nick. And I really didn't want Fox to know that Nick stayed at my house last night.

"Hold on a second, Fox." I told him. He agreed and then I covered the phone right away.

"What?" I screamed to Nick. "Yes, I'm awake."

He was sleeping in the empty bedroom across the hall from mine. I wasn't about to send him off to a hotel to get mobbed by fans, he was staying with me, no matter what. He was only staying one more night and Fox didn't have to know.

"Sorry..." Nick whispered as he appeared in my doorway. "I didn't know you were on the phone. Come downstairs when you're done, I wanna talk to you, ok?" he asked cutely.

"Oh, of course. I'll be right down." I replied.

"K..." he finished and turned around. I watched him walk away before I put the phone back to my ear.

"Hey Fox... sorry." I told my boyfriend.

"No problem. What's going on?" he asked. He always wanted to know everything.

"Nothing... my sisters are just bugging me to... make breakfast." I lied.

"Oh ok... I'll let you go then. I'll call you before I leave, ok?" he asked. I smiled, just thinking about spending all day with him.

"Sounds great. See ya soon, baby." I replied.

"Bye, love you." he finished and hung up. I sighed happily and ran downstairs.

Nick, Abbie and Andie were all sitting on the couch in the living room, waiting for me. I smiled at them as I walked into the room.

"What's up?" I asked.

"I was going to ask you if you wanted to go out for lunch with me today, but your sisters told me that you're spending the day with Fox." Nick told me, sounding a little sad.

"Oh, yeah, I am. Sorry. Um... how 'bout we go out when I get home? I'll probably be home at like 10pm or something." I told him. He nodded.

"Sure... and I guess I'll go see the other girls today." he said.

"Yeah... I called them and they can't wait to see you." I smiled. "I can drop you off somewhere if you want."

"That's ok, I'll take the bus. I have my hat and sunglasses and hopefully I won't get noticed much." he laughed.

"Oh ok... well... how 'bout you girls leave us alone so we can talk?" I asked my sisters. They both looked a little sad, but smiled and hugged Nick. Then they left the room and ran upstairs. "So... Nick... I just wanna tell you that Fox doesn't know you're staying here, and he wouldn't be too happy if he found out..." I laughed. Nick grinned.

"So, I'm a secret?" he asked adorably. I nodded.

"Yes, you are. And you can only stay one more night or he'll probably find out." I joked.

"Are you kicking me out?" he joked back.

"No... I would never do that. I still love ya." I told him.

"Awww, really?" he asked.

"Of course. You're a really great friend." I told him, although I'm guessing that's not what he wanted to hear.

"I'm a great friend... yeah, thanks..." he mumbled. "So are you."

"Nick... c'mon, you know how I feel about you. I really like you, and I always will. But-" I started.

"Fox, right? It's always Fox." Nick mumbled again. "It's ok, really. You know how I feel about you, too. But my feelings are just a little stronger than yours."

I didn't know what to say to that. It was true. I just stared back at him, wondering what he was thinking at that moment.

"I-I better get ready to go, Fox is picking me up soon..." I broke the silence after a long few minutes.

"Yeah, you should go..." Nick said, a little rudely. He was a little sad and confused too.

"Yeah... see ya Nick." I finished, took a deep breath and ran out of the room.

Fox picked me up around 11am, since I asked him to come earlier than he was planning to come. He didn't mind at all. I said goodbye to Nick and my sisters and then left my house. I got into Fox's car sadly. My stomach was going crazy. I hate to say it, but I didn't feel like spending a whole day with Fox. Nick was on my mind. Fox looked at me weirdly as he backed out of the driveway.

"You look great... what's wrong?" he asked right away.

"Nothing. I'm fine. Where are we going today?" I asked him back, changing the subject.

"Does it really matter? I just want to be with you." he said cutely, which made me smile. It was funny when he tried to act and be romantic.

"You're right. I just wanna be with you, too." I said sincerely. And Nick's only going to be here for one more night. I told myself.
