*10 Days Later*
Ring! Ring! Ring!
"Who's cell is ringing?"
I heard someone scream.
"It's not mine!"
I replied with a laugh, holding my silent cell phone in my hand.
"Trevor!"
Someone else screamed louder.
Ring! Ring!
"Trevor's asleep!"
Jimmy called back to us.
"Answer his damn cell phone!"
Joey yelled, sounding like she'd just woke up. She probably did.
Ring! Ring!
"Dammit!"
I screamed and jumped up out of my bunk. How lazy are these people? I ran down to Trevor's bunk and found his cell laying beside his sleeping body. I grabbed it and answered,
"Hello?"
"Is Trevor Willis, or Jim Taylor there?" an annoyed voice asked me. I sighed.
"Yes, one moment please." I replied politely. Then I ran back to the front of the bus and found Jimmy. I threw the cell phone at him and ran back to my bunk, almost as annoyed as that person on the phone was.
"Hello?" Jimmy answered the phone.
"Hello, who is this?" the voice asked.
"This is Jim Taylor." Jimmy replied.
"Oh, hi, Jim, this is Michael Pearson, from The Firm?" the voice replied. Jim smiled.
"Oh hey Michael, how are you?" he asked back. The Firm is BSB's management company.
"Pretty good. I know this is short notice, but I was wondering if your girls would like to perform at half time, at a charity basketball game on the 10th?" he asked Jimmy, who was quite shocked to hear that.
"Really?" he asked, just to make sure.
"Yes. Aaron Carter is performing, but we were thinking about getting another performer. And since BSB and soulDecision are part of the basketball teams, we thought it would be appropriate for Cruel Sensation to perform. I mean, if they want to?" Michael asked.
"Oh, I'm sure they'd love to." Jimmy replied, pulling our our list of things we had to do. We had just done two magazine interviews, on July 4th and 6th. Today is Tuesday the 7th. He read it quickly and saw that we had nothing except shows between now and Friday, the 10th. And we're in Ottawa, Canada. "And... we're free. So, yeah, that'd be great!" Jimmy finished.
"Awesome! Thanks alot! We'll give you the details about it later today or tomorrow, I just wanted to make sure that you knew about it." Michael finished. "Oh, and you know all about the 'day in the life' thing on the 20th, right?" he continued.
"Oh, yeah, the girls are excited about that too, thanks." Jimmy smiled. He knew we'd love to do this.
And on July 20th, MTV was hosting a live "A Day In The Life- on the Generation P.O.P: 2001 Tour". Carson Daly was going to be following us (and the other groups) around Cincinnati, Ohio, where we'd be that day. We were psyched about that.
"Alright. Talk to you later." Michael finished.
"Ok. Bye." Jimmy finished and hung up the cell.
He then looked at his watch, and it was just 5am. We'd been driving all night, from New York City yesterday, now to Ottawa, Canada. This was going to be our second time to Canada, but our first concert there. And we had one more, in Toronto, tomorrow.
Now that I was awake, from all the yelling, I got back out of my bunk and went to talk to Jimmy again. I knew that everyone else would still be sleeping in their bunks.
"Morning Fay-Baby, sorry I didn't get the cell, and made you get it." he laughed.
"That's ok, I wanted to get up anyway." I laughed back, sitting beside him. "So, who was it?"
"BSB's management, and guess what?" he asked me, grinning. I knew it was good news.
"What?" I asked back.
"You girls are going to be performing at a charity b-ball in Detriot, on Friday!" he practically yelled. My face lit up immediately.
"Really?" I asked, and he nodded, "Who's playing?" I asked another question. This sounded interesting.
"BSB and soulDecision are part of the teams, I'm not sure who else. You girls and Aaron will be performing." Jimmy told me. I grinned again.
"Oh man, this is awesome! I gotta go tell everyone!" I yelled, jumping up.
"I suggest you wait until they get up. We don't want cranky superstars!" Jimmy joked, and I nodded, agreeing.
*Two Hours Later; at a Gas Station*
"Are you serious, Fay?" Joey asked me, after I'd just told her about the basketball game. I nodded back.
"Yup, and as soon as Aaron gets here he probably won't shut up about it!" I giggled, thinking about the little boy. Joey nodded.
"This is so great!" Cher yelled.
"What's so great about it? You don't even like basketball!" Luke told her angrily. There was something wrong with him these past few days. No one really knew what his problem was, but it sure was annoying.
"I don't know... what's your problem, anyway, Lucas?" Cher asked back. "You've really been a jerk recently."
He shot her an angry look again, and replied, "I think you're the ones with the problem, all of you girls."
I was so shocked that he had said that. I didn't know what to say to that. The five of us just stood there, shocked. Fox and Tony were just as shocked.
"Us? What did we do?" Marce asked back.
"You're walking around like you own the world, ever since your single came out. You're not that famous, girls... you need a reality check." he said rudely. We all practically gasped.
"Ok, I don't know what made you say that, but-" Joey screamed, ready to punch him in the face. I pulled on her arm as she stepped closer to him.
"No, Joey, don't. He's not worth it." I told her and shot Luke an evil look.
She nodded, as did the other three girls. As the five of us turned around to walk away, someone grabbed my arm.
"Fay-" he started. It was Fox, I knew it. I didn't even have to turn around.
"No, don't. If that's how you all feel, then fine. But I thought we were best friends." I told him sadly.
Then the five of us girls practically ran away from them, leaving the gas station and running back onto the bus. We locked ourselves in the entertainment room. Marce, Dare and Cher sat down right away. Joey and I stood, still in shock of what had happened. Joey covered her face with her hands quickly as she began to cry. I was too shocked to cry. It was about five minutes later when someone finally spoke.
"I can't believe they did this to us." Joey said, wiping her remaining tears.
"Luke has been acting so weird lately. He thinks we're full of ourselves..." Dare whispered, thinking hard.
"How could they?" Marce asked.
"Do you think that we really are...?" Cher asked out loud, but didn't really mean to say it.
"No..." I answered right away. "I think they're jealous."
"Well... it was only Luke who said anything." Dare said. "Don't be mad at Tony and Fox."
"C'mon, you know those three do everything together." I answered, getting really upset.
"Maybe we are... maybe we're thinking too highly of ourselves?" Joey asked.
"Yeah, I mean, Luke was right, we're not that famous. Maybe we do need a reality check?" Cher asked, looking at me. I looked away quickly. I didn't want to believe that.
"No..." I said angrily, but I wasn't too sure. I was just confused right now.
*Half Hour Later; at the Ottawa Arena*
"Jimmy?" Marce asked, as the five of us walked up behind Jimmy, backstage. It was about 8am, and our soundcheck was early today, at about 9am. That's why we were there already.
"Yeah, girls?" Jimmy asked, smiling, like always.
"We need to talk to you about something." Dare told him, sounding a bit sad, still. None of us had talked to any of the guys yet. We talked to Rowdy for a few minutes, and Christina, but didn't bring the subject up.
"Sure, what's up?" Jimmy asked again.
"Well, how do you think we are handling our success, and fame, so far?" I asked him, trying not to make it obvious.
"I've worked with some people before you, who became famous and it went straight to their heads. But you girls are different. I think you're handling it really good." Jimmy replied. "Why, what brought this up?" he asked. Of course he was going to ask.
We all looked at Joey. She wanted to tell him. "Luke... he... Luke told us that we need a 'reality check'... he said that we 'act like we own the world'." Joey said sadly, looking at the ground. Jimmy put his hand on Joey's shoulder, and she looked up.
"Joey, believe me, I wouldn't let that happen. I'd let you know if you were acting like that. Trust me, you're not." Jimmy reassured us. "Luke is probably just a bit jealous that you five are getting so much more attention than he and his brothers are."
"Are you serious?" Dare asked, making sure.
"Yes. I wouldn't lie to you. Don't worry about Luke and the guys, they'll get over this soon enough." he told us.
We all kind of let out sighs of relief. As long as what Luke said wasn't true, then we were fine. Well, for now, at least.
