Chapter Fifty-One:
Sore Hands and a Special Boy

"I'm Steve, and this is Ron. It's nice to meet you all, we've heard so much about you."

One of the big security guys told us. Aaron grinned.

"I'm Aaron. It's nice to meet you too." he replied.

Then we all followed the two guys as they began walking. We saw a large crowd coming up, and Joey started bouncing around. Aaron grabbed her hand to calm her, with a laugh.

"Those fans have been here all morning, since about 5am." Ron informed us.

"Wow, that's insane." I spoke up. They other girls nodded, agreeing.

As we neared the screaming fans, Aaron started to speed up his pace. He just wanted to get to them and meet them. And Joey was right next to him, holding his hand.

"Aaron, slow down pal. Stay behind security." Jane told her son.

"Oh my Gawd, it's Aaron Carter!" A crazy fan screamed, and we all laughed.

We walked through the crowd slowly, touching and talking to as many fans as we could. When we finally reached the doors to the mall, Ron held them open and we ran in, following Steve. It wasn't as crazy inside. Well, that is, until we got to the centre, where we saw at least a thousand screaming fans. They were going nuts. And they didn't even know that we were there yet. Steve lead us into a music store called Sam Goody. That store was actually sponsering the autograph signing. We met the manager, Laurie, and a few of the workers. Then we went into a "backstage" room to wait. It was our first real autograph signing. I mean, yeah, we'd already signed a million and one autographs, but it's just not the same.

We went back out into the middle, and we all sat down behind a long table. It went Marce, Dare, Joey, me, Cher and then Aaron. Well, then Joey and Cher switched seats. We each had stacks of mini-posters of ourselves to sign, in case the fans didn't have anything. We all had permenant black markers. I couldn't even hear Joey when she yelled something to me. That's how loud it was. Someone tossed Aaron a microphone, and he yelled,

"Hey everyone!"

Then more loud shrieks and screams came. We all giggled.

"I'm Aaron Carter, and I want to thank you so much for coming today. You all probably know these girls that are sitting with me, they are Cruel Sensation." Aaron continued, grinning. He passed the mic to Joey and she laughed and yelled,

"Hello! My name is Joey, and we are so happy to be here!"

Then she passed the mic down to me. "Can't you get louder than that?" I asked into the mic, and, of course, everyone started screaming at the top of their lungs. "Thanks so much! I'm Fay!" I laughed, passing it to Cher.

Then she, Dare and Marce all said something similar to what we had said. Then Laurie took the mic from Marce and said,

"Welcome to our Aaron Carter/Cruel Sensation day, sponsored by Sam Goody music stores! To make this less crazy, you must have a ticket to meet the group. You can get the tickets for free, from any of the security guards that are standing by. Now we'll get this started right away." She paused for a moment, thinking. "Oh yeah, and no cameras within fifteen feet please." she finished.

Within minutes, the fans were standing infront of us, and we were signing autographs by the second. I said a quick "hi, how are you?" to each person, but the line was moving pretty fast, so it was pretty hard.

Before we knew it, it was 11:30am. We looked around and noticed that there was still tons of fans, but not near as many as when it started. But we were having so much fun, we never wanted to leave.

"Do we actually have to leave?" Cher asked, jokingly. She knew that Aaron's soundcheck was at 1pm, and our was at 2:30pm.

"I wish we didn't have to, you girls are so much fun to be with." Aaron told us.

"So are you." I told him back. He grinned.

"Man, my hand is so sore." Dare complained, rubbing her hands together.

"Yeah, so is mine." Marce agreed, stretching out her fingers. As I thought about it, my left hand (that I wrote with) was really sore too.

"Don't worry, you'll get used to signing so much." Aaron informed us with a laugh.

Then, a minute later, we saw Laurie walking over to us again. She had been really nice to us.

"Girls, Aaron, thanks so much for coming today." Laurie told us, as she approached us again. We all nodded happily.

"Yeah, well, thanks for having us." Dare spoke up.

"It was an honor." Laurie finished. "Um, there's just one more person who'd love to meet you, before you go. My nephew Jake, he's 8-years-old."

"Oh, of course." Joey smiled cutely.

"Really?" Laurie asked again. "He has lukemia... he's had it since he was five. He doesn't really have much more time to live, and he loves Aaron's music..." Laurie smiled at Aaron, who turned serious right away. He knew all about cancer and diseases. "And I've been talking to him about you girls alot, and he just got your single. He's really shy, though." she continued.

"Oh, we'd love to meet him. Is he here?" Cher wondered.

"Yes, he's in the backroom of the store. He didn't want to come out here." Laurie replied.

"Oh, ok, we'll go back and meet him." I finished, standing up.

We all stood up and said goodbye to the few fans who were close enough to hear us. We just waved to everyone else. Then we followed Laurie and Ron, who lead us back to the store. We went in the large backroom area, where we found Jane and Jimmy already talking to a young boy. He was in a wheelchair, and he was wearing a "bucket" hat over his bald head. He had big blue eyes. He was quite cute, actually.

"Jakey, I want you to meet some friends of mine." Laurie told the boy, as he turned around, and gasped. "This is Aaron Carter, and Cruel Sensation."

"Aunty Laurie, I know that." he replied cutely. "Hi..." he said to us.

"Hey Jake, how you doing?" Joey asked him, sitting on the couch across from him. He smiled, as Aaron sat next to Joey.

"Pretty good. I'm so happy to meet you." he replied.

"We're happy to meet you, too." Aaron told him, and shook his hand.

"Could, I... get your autographs?" he asked us. We all nodded right away.

"Of course. We've even got posters." Cher replied, grabbing a stack from the table. She grabbed a marker and wrote on one of her,

Hey Jake, hope you get better soon. All my love, Cheryl Dunn; Cruel Sensation

Then she handed it to him. He took it and smiled at her.

"Thanks, Cher." he replied.

Then Dare and Marce signed one each for him too, writing similar notes to him. When it was my turn, I wasn't that sure what to write to a young boy, who was dying. But I made up my mind and just wrote,

Dear Jake, keep smiling always, love you lots, Fay Hunter; Cruel Sensation

Then Joey and Aaron also personalizes them for him. He had six different posters, all signed, when we were through.

"Thank you all so much." he finished happily. "Can, I... get a hug?" he asked, hoping.

"Of course." Joey laughed, and leaned down to hug him. Aaron followed her lead, and then me, Cher, Marce and Dare did too.

It was quarter after twelve when we actually left the mall. Ron and Steve, again, lead out of the mall, and through the same group and screaming fans. We talked to a few quickly, before spotting the awaiting limo. Then there was no stopping us. We all took off running towards it.

Even though we did have alot of fun today, I couldn't wait to see Fox. I just wanted to be with him, on our "aniversary". But, I wasn't expecting what was about to happen.

We opened the door and leaped into the huge limo. Inside already was Aaron's four dancers, our three dancers, Jamal and Trevor. And to think that nine more people could fit in. Yes, it was huge. Fox pulled me back outside the limo.

"What are you doing?" I asked him. He had that certain smirk on his face that I grew to love to hate, and hate to love. He opened the back door and told me,

"Here, get in."

"What? Why?" I asked again. He was confusing me.

"So we can be alone. Get in." he said, pushing me right into the back part of the long limo. It was empty. We were behind everyone else. He got in after me and was still just grinning.

"Why do we want to be alone? What do you have planned?" I asked him, smiling. He always had something planned.

Without a word, he reached into his shirt pocket. A million thoughts ran through my mind when he pulled out a small velvet box. I knew what it was. A ring box.
