Another beautiful country style ballad, comparable with "I Know Who I Am". Another "best" Lotus song. This was the last song to be recorded with Paul Byrne at the helm, and these songs feature on the first Lotus demo CD. Written in 1997.

Byrne: drums, percussion

Recorded: 25th November 1997, Yellow Moon Studios, Dublin

A throw-away song recorded at the end of the night, this song nevertheless was always the highlight of all Lotus gigs. Written in 1997.

15. I Want To Be On My Own Again (Crosbie)

Crosbie: Vocal, acoustic guitars, lead guitar, bass, backing vocal, organ
Byrne: drums, backing vocal
Recorded: 28th October 1997, Yellow Moon Studios, Dublin

This is a great hard-rocking song, with a super Neil Young guitar sound. The song peaks at its middle 8, featuring 3 part harmonies and ringing organs! Written in 1997.

14. You & I - early version (Crosbie)

Crosbie: Vocal, electric rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass, backing vocal
Byrne: Drums, percussion
Recorded: 22nd October 1997, Yellow Moon Studios, Dublin
Produced by: Paul Byrne
Appears on: unreleased

A Lemonheads-inspired track, this song opened the set when Lotus played live in 1998. A very poppy, commercial song; probably the most commercial Lotus would get, and quite lightweight in comparison with later material. Written in 1997.

13. Let Me See You (Crosbie / O'Farrell)

Crosbie: Vocal, acoustic guitars, bass, backing vocal
Byrne: Drums, backing vocal
Recorded: 16th October 1997, Yellow Moon Studios, Dublin
Produced by: Paul Byrne
Appears on: "Lotus" LP

The first true "Lotus" song. This track features Paul Byrne on drums for the first time, and more effort was put into the recording and production of this song than any previously. The song flows and rises to the choruses, featuring great backing vocals and a real mid 60's rock feel. The first song to be co-written with Paul O'Farrell, who assisted with the lyrics. Written in 1997.

12. Never Been Like This Before - remake (Crosbie)

Crosbie: Vocal, acoustic guitars, bass, drums, backing vocals
Recorded: 8th August 1997, Yellow Moon Studios, Dublin
Produced by: Paul Byrne
Appears on: "Ballet Dancer" LP

A new version of this older song. Recorded once again with Paul Byrne, this is a somewhat restrained version. The multi-tracked backing vocals at the chorus are interesting, but not enough to pull this version up. Written in 1994.

11. Sorry When You're Gone (Crosbie)

Crosbie: Vocal, acoustic guitars, bass, drums
Recorded: 25th July 1997, Yellow Moon Studios, Dublin
Produced by: Paul Byrne
Appears on: "Lotus" LP

The first song Robert recorded with Paul Byrne, almost a year since his last session in Sonic. Robert is playing all the instruments for the first time here, and the song features one of his best vocal performances. The song's solid beat is irresistible. Written in 1997.
