Waterfall: History

In 1992, Robert fronted another group called Waterfall. They played only one gig and never made any official recordings.

However, a tape of a rehearsal session from summer '92 does exist; and although the quality is poor it is still an interesting and valuable document of Robert's development to Lotus.

Waterfall featured Richard Skelton on drums (who went on the drum in the Starlas / Lotus during the 1994 recording sessions) and Paul McLoughlin on bass. Their first and only gig was in the University College Dublin "Battle of the Bands" in November 1992. They played two songs, and didn't win.

There were a lot of Waterfall songs; some of these (such as "I Know Who I Am" and "Here To Stay / Won't Go Away") have crossed over in to Lotus territory. These songs are stylistically very different from the Lotus songs.

The tape that exists features the following tracks:

1. Crown
2. Maze
3. Lavender
4. Gown
5. Waterfall
6. Money (That's What I Want)

All the above songs were written by Robert except "Money" which is a cover of the classic 50's song.

The following titles are also known to exist:

1. Splendid
2. Machinery / The Wedding
3. Magpie
4. What About Us?
5. Cow
6. Airways
7. Don't Deny It
8. Father's Song
9. The Love
10. Complications

These songs may be recorded and complied into the following album:

"Waterfall"

1. Splendid
2. Crown
3. Maze
4. Waterfall
5. Gown
6. Magpie
7. Lavender
8. Machinery / The Wedding

11. The Love
12. Airways
13. What About Us?
