Nena
Kerner, vocalist and songwriter, born in Hagen on March 24th,
1960. She started when she was a teenager, with Rolf, they put together their first band, "The Stripes" back in Hagen, the band was together for a year and made an album. The Stripes split because they had been still unsuccessful after 4 Single releases and 1 LP, and because each member of the band had different meanings of the musical way in the future. Nena and Rolf moved to Berlin and started a new band "Nena" in 1981. Jim Rakete was the manager and 2 members of the Spliff were the producers, Reinhold Heil and Manfred Praeker |

Nena has a sister, Christiane, 5 years younger and a brother Michael, 4 years younger. Her mother, Ursula lives in Berlin and her father, Alfons lives in Hagen. Nena and Rolf after 8 years split up (January 87) and so was the band (April 87). The Film project "Der Unsichtbare" (The Invisible) had been shooted in fall 1986 and was released 1 year later, 1987. This was her 2nd movie. The first one was called "Gib gas ich will spass" (Step on the gas) and was released in march, 10th 1983. While shooting the 2nd movie movie she met Benedict Freytag, they start going out steady, they had 3 children, Christopher (88-89) died a year later, (he had heart problems), Larissa and Sakias (twins) were born in 90.
She split with Benny and met drummer/producer Philip Palm with whom
she had 2 sons, Samuel born in 95 and Simeon in 97. When Nena is on
tour Philip is the one staying home taking care of the kids.
