In 1948, the local Orange Lodges resumed their parades, which had been suspended during the war years. A group of teenagers from Clarkston in Airdrie attended this parade in West Calder, and on return to their home town, decided there and then to form their own band.
They started fundraising from homes and businesses in and around Clarkston. Any goods they were given were raffled and flutes and drums purchased with the proceeds. In less than a year, the band had been formed, kitted out and were ready for their first parade. In July 1949, the Pride paraded for the first time in Airdrie. They were now a fully fledged Loyalist Marching Band. Our founder members were, Neil McAllister, John Adamson (jnr and snr), Tom Armstrong, Bob Mason, Willie Dickie, Alex Mills and David Geddes.
