First Gig - April 30th, 1994

One Year Later... A different lineup by July of the next year, Don was playing drums, Mike was on bass, Chuck had begun to play rhythm full time, and Steve Sawyer had joined the band on lead guitar.

Growth and changes by the next year....Ernie Biering had returned for a six month stint on drums before retiring for good. Don became the utility man: playing keyboards, percussion and guitar (not at the same time, of course). Mike does Buddy Holly as the band plays at a sock hop for the Girl Scouts.

A last hurrah for a great venue....One of the band's favorite places to perform was the Jalapeno Tree in Webster, Texas. Here VINTAGE performs for a full house. Less than three months later, the Tree closed forever.

June 6, 1997

Splashtown, USA Some of the highlights of 1998, were the band's two appearances at the Summer Concert Series at Splashtown in Spring, Texas. Included in the Fourth of July show were a couple of tunes performed with the traveling cast of Grease.

Reunion Though the group had disbanded some ten months before, as Don Short retired to concentrate on composing and producing local talent, and Mike Turner and Steve Sawyer tried a brief tour of duty with the country/blues band Midnight Ride, the band made one last appearance at the Reunion Concert in Houston. That night brought the hits they had performed as a team for almost six years for an appreciative audience.

VINTAGE reformed in 2000...The band included a full-time keyboard player for the first time. Tony Custer joined Steve Sawyer's former band-mate, drummer Dan Heard, and, along with the previous three members, performed steadily for over 50 appearances over the next two years. Here the band makes one of its annual appearances at the Katy Rice Harvest Festival.
