1. What's all this about then?
This is a directory of sites and links to Beatles fan fiction stories. The sort of mission statement of this site is to archive as many stories as possible so that fans of fab fiction will be able to use it as a quick referance guide when they are searching for stories of a particular type, genre, author or starring thier favourite Beatle,
2. What kind of stories do you list?
Anything! So long as it features the Beatles the Beatles Fan Fiction Directory will list it. Crossover stories are okay too, so long as they feature the Beatles as the main or joint main characters.
3. Isn't fan fiction illeagle?
No, although it can be a bit of a grey area. Usual fan fiction of TV shows or films can breach copywrite laws which can annoy a lot of people, not least the author who invented the characters in the first place. However, in writing Beatles fan fiction you are not breaching copywrite laws (so long as you're not stealing the plots to A Hard Day's Night, Help! or Yellow Submarine!)
The only time that Real People (RP) fiction becomes illeagle is when author commit defamation of character and misrepresentation of actual people. This is where you will have to be careful. Please do your research properly and/or qualify any radical charcter alterations within your plot.
As an adidtional note of interest, putting disclaimers on your site or story DOES NOT protect you from legal action. However, saying all this, I have not heard of anyone being sued for writing Beatles fan fiction.
4. Why can't I find a link for (Insert title here)?
Probably because I haven't got a link for it! If you know the address please Submit it to me and I will approach the author for thier permission to link it. If you haven't got the address then also tell me and I will try to find it for you and/or list it in the Wanted Gallery.
5. What is slash?
Slash is homosexual fiction stories. This usually takes place between characters, or in the case of the Beatles, real people, who are not in actuality gay. It can often be explict or graphic and can be offensive to some readers. If this is you then please don't read the stories. All of the slash stories listed have a warning accompanying them so you will know.
6. I read a story that was graphically violent/contained explict sex/was slash (etc) that did not contain a warning beforehand! Why?
The Beatles Fan Fiction Directory relies upon the information submitted by the authors, including any warnings the story should carry. Occasionally a warning may be missed out (especially when we have not been able to contact the author). If you think there should be a warning on a story that isn't there, please tell me and I will add it.
7. Is slash illegle?
Again, a bit of a grey area, especially where the portrayal of real people is concerned, because of defamation of character. However, I have never heard of anyone being sued over slash, and there is a lot of it out there! Because of the problems over the legalities of slash, I cannot promise a slash story will be listed at The Beatles Fan Fiction Directory (although by all means, please ask me, as each case will be considered individually!) but we will 90% of the time link to it.
8. What is 'Paul in Pain'?
In general fan fiction this is often known as hurt/comfort fan fiction which involves characters being placed in extreame physical peril up to the point of sadism. In Beatles fan fiction this is often refered to as Paul in Pain fiction, as it tends to be Paul who ends up in these situations, (poor Paul!) All Paul in Pain stories listed will carry a warning and if it doesn't please tell me See question 6 for more details.
9. I have a story but nowhere to post it. What can I do?
We can probably host it for you! Please Submit it and we will see what we can do. If we cannot host it for you or you want somewhere to host it, but not here, then we can help you find a place to put it and we will still list it in the directory.
10. Did you know this link is dead?
No, I didn't, otherwise it wouldn't be listed. Please tell me so I can fix it or take it down.
11. Oi! You've listed my story without asking! Why?!
Probably because when we listed it all efforts to contact you were unsucessful, but we thought your story was so good it should be shared with the fan fic readers so we listed it. If you object please tell me and I will remove it immediactly.
12. My story is listed but I want to remove it, is that ok?
Of course! Your story belongs to you. Just let me know and I will remove it.
