CHAP 3
*15 Years Earlier*
"Jenn........Jenn where are you" A 8 year old Lance said running through tall grass
"In here." Jenn said sticking her face out of their club house that they built that summer.
Lance climbed up the ladder and jumped inside to a clubhouse that could fit a large amount of people, but it never did, it was just theirs and that's the way they liked it. There were Michael Jackson posters on her side while he had pictures of space shuttles and astronauts on his. She had her radio on and she was singing as he walked over to where she was.
"You have a nice voice" He said listening to her sing
Jenn laughed she did not notice she was singing aloud. "Thanks.......but I like your voice it sounds sexy."
"Sexy?" Lance said confused no one ever told him that.
"Yeah, that's why all the girls like you" Jenn said as her voice trailed off.
"Girls? Like me? Ewwwwww" They both laughed rolling on the floor.
"What you got their" Lance asked pointing to her bag.
"Some Cherry Coke and Cherries." She smiled
"What's that?"
"You've never had that before?"
"No" He shook his head
"Well hear try some." Jenn said pouring him a drink and giving him some cherries. "Like it?"
"Yeah I do." he said wiping the coke that moistened his upper lip.
Jenn leaned over and kissed Lance.
It was their first kiss.
"Why did you do that?" He asked
"I dunno, I saw it in the movies and I wanted to try it." she said shrugging her shoulders.
"Oh" He said kissing her.
Outside of the clubhouse their where little giggles of Caitlyn and Kady as they watched Jenn and Lance kiss up above them. "Jenn and Lance sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G, First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage."
Jenn and Lance immediately stopped what they where doing and looked at their friends below. Jenn smiled at Lance and jumped out of the clubhouse to follow her friends with giggles.
Lance looked at her run across the field, that's when he knew, he found the one.
*Present Day*
He looked into her eyes, he knew it was her, she looked a little different, more beautiful actually but that was the way it was when you have not seen your friend in four years. She used to have really long hair but now it was cut to about her shoulders .....he thought.....he wasn't sure though since it was in a pony tail but it was defiantly shorter. She grew out of the girlish figure since the last time he saw her, she looked more sophisticated with her head held high as though she had been alone all her life. He could read her so well right there he saw the pain in her eyes and wondered what caused it. He noticed the way she sat, when she was happy she would sit up straight, but when she was sad or confused and wanted to hide from the world she slouched and that was exactly what she was doing now.
"Hi" He managed to choke out.
"Hi" she said with a warm smile
What was she doing? How stupid could she be, she knew she would run into him, why didn't she just leave? She didn't want to hurt him anymore. She noticed his eyes gaze on her body and she actually started to feel comfortable. She loved his eyes, ever since they where little she always used to stare in them. She loved the way he stared at her though, it was a different stare then he gave to any other person, she didn't know what it was, but she liked it. He changed a lot, of course she had seen him on TV and in magazines but she tried to stay away from them it was to painful for her. He looked like he had finally grown into himself, though the bags under his eyes resembled many sleepless nights.
"How are you?" she asked trying to think of something to say.
"Good...... and you?" he said lying through his teeth he knew she could tell he was lying.
He was lying she thought. "Good too." She said
She was lying too he thought to himself.
"So why are you here? Your not the club going type." She said trying to break the ice
"Guys dragged me, cause we have some time off......and I ask you the same thing." he said grinning at her
"Kady and Caitlyn." She said pointing to Kady and Justin dancing and Chris and Caitlyn dancing.
"Their here? Wow I haven't seen them in a long time."
"Yeah well..." Jenn started but then stopped
"Yeah well what."
She hated when he repeated something that she just said.
"Nothing........"
"No tell me."
"Lance its nothing." she said snapping back at him.
"Ok....you wanna come sit with me and J.C.?" he asked trying to be a gentleman
He was always the one trying to make the effort in things she thought. "No I don't want to intrude."
"No, not at all I need someone to keep me company, after all I'm not much for the whole club seen."
"Ok but if you ever want me to leave then I will."
"Now why would I want that? Your my best friend Jenn." He said taking her over to the table.
She laughed to herself she was more screwed up about this whole mess then he was.
They walked over to the table and Lance pulled out a chair for Jenn to sit in. Jayce smiled and made a double take.
"Jenn?" he said
"Hey J.C." she said
Lance gave J.C. a look on not to mention anything.
"I'm going to go get are drinks from the bartender....Jayce you want anything while I'm up there?"
"Yeah another beer."
"Ok"
Lance walked away back up to the bar as J.C. turned to look at her.
"Jenn I have one thing to ask, Why'd you leave him?"
Jenn whispered in his ear the secret whom she told very few.
"Oh my god , Jenn I'm so sorry." He said hugging her
"Its ok.....I'm still here that is all that matter....I guess"
"Are you are going to tell him?"
"When the time is right, I used to think that I would never tell him, but now I know, I have to."
"Yeah you have to, he loves you Jenn, you owe it to him."
"Yeah and I owe it to myself."
They sat there for a couple hours laughing and talking and the tension that was created hours before was now gone.
"Oh I got to go" Jenn said looking at her watch
"Why" Lance said
"I have to go do some work." Jenn said looking around for Caitlyn and Kady. In real actuality she had to take her medicine she just did not want to say that in front of Lance. "Damnit where is Caitlyn and Kady."
"I saw them leave with Chris and Justin an hour ago" J.C.
"Great just great."
"I can drive you home." Lance said
"No, I live right up the street I can walk." Jenn said standing up
"Fine, then I'll walk you."
"No its ok really, I'm a big girl, I can walk by myself."
"Jenn just let me walk you."
"Ok" she said as they exited out of the club.
