“Let’s go…..LETS GO” Chris said pulling Lance away from his computer screen.
“Go where?” Lance said focusing on the business letter he was typing.
“Out to a club……man you need to quit working and get out more.” Justin said putting on his beanie.
“I get out…..but unlike you guys I have businesses’ to run.”
“Oh come on Lance, business can wait….but the fine ladies cant” Joey said pulling the plug on Lance’s laptop.
“Hey” Lance said sorta pissed that he just lost the letter he was working on.
“He did that for your own good, L, you really need to get out.” J.C. said while putting on his shoes.
“Yeah ever since Jennifer dumped his ass a few years ago he cant seem to get out anymore.” Chris said putting on his jacket.
“Ooooooo you brought up Jennifer…….Chris you shouldn’t have done that …..that is his weakness.” Joey said
“OK that’s it lets go…but we need to go now before I have second thoughts.” Lance said getting up and going out the door.
“Works every time,” Justin smiled.

The sun was setting over the lake birds flew away when the sound of a car pulled up to where a women on a blanket was sitting looking at the lake ahead of her.
She called him here she had something to tell him, he didn’t know, he thought maybe she finally wanted to move in with him or something. He shut the car door; walked over to her and kissed her on the cheek. She showed no emotion, she sat their still; looking straight ahead, the only thing that made him notice that she was still alive was the tears in her eyes that slowly crept down her cheeks. He wiped them away, still she had no emotion just the emptiness that she felt inside.
“Jenn are you ok” Lance wondered she looked very sick like and in the past few days she has stayed home sick and would not talk to him.
“Lance……we need to talk.” She began………
*Present time*
“Lance man what are you doing?” Justin said slapping his face
“What” Lance said getting back to reality.
“Were here man” Justin said getting out of the car
“I knew that” Lance said
They all walked into the club; the flashing lights blinded Lance’s eyes he squinted and got used to it. Joey went to go dance with some ladies, as he likes to call them, Chris went to go check out some new video games along with Justin. It was just Lance and J.C.; J.C. suggested that they go find a table and so they did.
“What can I get you guys?” the waitress said
“I’ll have a beer.” J.C. said not really wanting anything but he got something anyway.
“And for you?”
“Ummm I’ll have a Cherry Coke with Cherries.” Lance said
“That’s the first easy drink I have had tonight……..Cherries that is new.” The waitress said while scribbling something down on her pad.
“Yeah…ummm my girlfriend ….I mean my ex-girlfriend got me hooked on it.” Lance said looking down at the table playing with a napkin. J.C. shook his head he still wasn’t over her.

“Wait before you start I brought some cherry coke” he said reaching into a bag “And some cherries” he grinned.
“Lance, let me say this now before it tears me up even more” she said as Lance dropped the coke and it spilled on the grass; he knew this was not good.
Jenn coughed a little; Lance noticed how pale she was and he guessed she must have been really; really sick because she didn’t look her normal vibrant self.
“Lance….I love you ….. but I cant see you anymore…. Its not you…..I just cant hurt you…. You have so much ahead of you and I don’t…….that is why we need to stop seeing each other” She said as she got up and walked towards her house.
“Jenn what the fuck are you talking about?” Lance said grabbing her arm. “You are not going to throw 6 years out the window like this, we have known each other forever.”
“Lance don’t get harsh with me, we can still see each other and be friends, its just I cant be the girlfriend you want, or I can be” Jenn said closing her screen door.
They looked at each other through the screen his eyes dazed with confusion her eyes filled with tears she could not tell him why she was breaking up with him because the whole reason was to breakup with him so she did not have to deal with telling him.
“Jenn come on this is a joke right, you cant possibly not want us not to be together……you cant.” He said running his hands through his hair.”
“Bye Lance” she said closing the cold hard door in his face.
She had her back on the door ,slid down, curled up in a ball and cried. He heard her cries and wanted to help, but he figured he would come back the next day and maybe, hopefully, she would change her mind.
“Beer for you, and a Cherry Coke with extra cherries for you.” The waitress said snapping Lance back into reality once again.
“Thanks” he said playing with his straw
“Lance, man, look it has been four years you really need to move on, I know you love her, we all know you do, but she dumped you and tore out your heart, do you think if she did that, that she loves you back?” J.C. said taking a sip of his beer.
“Jayce, its just weird that she never told me why, never gave me a reason, when I looked into her eyes it did not seem she wanted to do it. I don’t know something inside of me still knows she is out there and we are meant to be together, Christ, we have known each other since we were little kids, I cant just not stop thinking about her.”
“That is why you need to meet someone else, I mean if you two were really meant to be then you two would be, you haven’t seen her since the time she broke up with you, she aint coming back.”

The rain poured down as Lance drove, it was like it was telling him not to go to her house, he could not see a thing. His headlights shimmered in the windows of her house. He stopped the car and pulled his hood from his sweatshirt over his head and he ran to the door and pounded hard. He didn’t mean for it to be so loud but he needed her. No answer. He pounded again this time louder and harder. No answer. He was surprised her dog
Poo-fu; the dog she named after him wasn’t barking like he usually does when he sees him, in fact there was no sound coming from the house at all.
“Are you looking for the young girl that lives there?” a man said sitting in a chair on his front porch.
Lance looked over and couldn’t hear him because of the rain so he moved closer to him still covered by Jenn’s porch.
“What did you say sir?”
“I said are you looking for the young girl that lives there?”
“Oh yes sir I am….do you know where she is?”
“Well it was the strangest thing really,…….. today some moving trucks came and she left, at least she took that annoying mutt with her.” He chuckled to himself.
Lance was shocked “Sir do you know where she went?”
“No, no I don’t……but she was a beautiful young lady sad to see her go she kept me company….when you get married you should marry someone like her….. very nice lady.” He said talking to himself
“Yes sir” he said as he walked to his car and got in shaking the rain off his clothes. She was beautiful and nice…..and he had her…….why did she leave him?…….as he drove away he looked at the house one more time reliving the memories, she was gone and there was nothing he could do about it.
