The road has many missing cobblestones. You step on one and it sinks several inches, covering your boots with muddy water.

There is no higher ground along the road which you can choose for a camp. You can either continue along the muddy road in the dark, or try searching off the beaten path for a hillock that is high and dry.

You decide you will light a lantern, whichever you choose. The trees are far too thick for any moonlight to filter down and guide your feet.

As you pull your lantern from your pack, you catch sight of a light bobbing in the distance, off to the right.

You decide to investigate to see where the light is coming from After all, it could be a fellow traveller who knows where they're going.

You keep following the road The ground around it looks far too muddy for your liking.
