LOS ANGELES, June 3 (PNA) -- Natives of the town of Bogo in the province of Cebu who are now residents in this part of California are in the thick of fund-raising activities to finance a charity mission slated from May 22-29, next year. Noli M. Danole, Jr., vice president of the Bogohanons of Southern California which has its office at 17028 South Maria Avenue, city of Cerritos, said that about 50 officers and members of the organization have already signified intention to visit the homeland during that period which coincides with the celebration of the town fiesta.

They will bring with them essential goods and foodstuff to be purchased from the proceeds of their fund-raising efforts which will then be distributed to the indigents and the handicapped of the different barrios of Bogo, Damole added. One such fund-raising affair was held at the parish hall of the Holy Family Catholic Church in the city of Artesia last Saturday, May 29, feast of their patron saint San Vicente Ferrer. The well-attended dinner and raffle started right after the afternoon mass and proceeded well into the night.

The group also conducted similar fund-raising efforts two years ago to help with the reconstruction of the parish church of the town. They donated about $6,000 for the purpose, the president, Maria Mena Pedrano Trias, said. They also shipped five balikbayan boxes of used books for the public library. Aside from Trias and Damole, the other officers of the organization are as follows: Carmencita P. Lauron, secretary; Elly Verallo Delavin, treasurer; Celso Ybanez, auditor; Guadalupe P. Florescio, Vincent T. Luna, Jr., Roger Manapat, Engracio Paradillo and Gilbert U. Reyes, press relations officers.

The following are the advisers: Virginia Y. Fidellaga, Albricias Mercado, Conchita E. Misa, Pablo S. Pansoy, Constan M. Pedrano, Rosario C. Pedrano and Misael M. Pedrano.

The Saturday dinner-dance was preceded by a short program with Fidellaga, one of the advisers, giving the invocation and followed by the lady president with a welcome address. Music was furnished by Dominic. (PNA) DCG/
