Chapter 2

“Adia, Will you just listen to me?!” Dakota screamed getting extremely frustrated with her friend that seemed to be ignoring her.

”Huh? What?”

“Phone.”

“Hello?” Adia greeted lifting the phone to her ear.

“Adia James Rialto, I hope you’re behaving on that tour.”

Adia smiled at the sound of her mom’s protective voice. No matter how many martial arts moves you learn, you mom always has to check up on you. “Yeah mom, I’m having a blast.”

“That’s great.”

“Yeah I know.”

“So does that mean you wouldn’t mind if I came to visit on the tour for a while?”

Adia sighed. “Mom, I’ll ask my Johnny and the tour director Kate, but I’m not sure you can.”

“Okay, well... how’s life guarding America’s no. 1 teen heart throb?”

“Well, it’s better than it was last week.”

Dakota snickered in the backround, yeah they tripped over a log and left their keys at home last week

“Anyway mom, I have to go because it’s four o’clock and I have to get to the venue cause the guys have sound check.”

“Okay honey, I love you.”

“Love you to mom!” With that Adia hung up the phone and walked back to bed to go to sleep.

Dakota looked over at her. “The venue huh?”

Adia groaned and rolled off her bed.

“Curly what on earth did you do to your hair?!?!”

“I died it...” Just said walking out of the bathroom in a wife neater and a pair of black cargo pants.

“No...really?” Chris said sarcastically as he stared at the young man with the hair so blonde it could blind you from across the room.

Just then Adia walked into Justin’s hotel room without knocking and layed down on his bed. After sitting there for about a minute and a half in complete silence she said, “Well don’t all say hi at once.” She looked up at Justin who was trying to hide his head.

“HOLY SHIT! HAHA!” she rolled around on the bed laughing.

“What?!” Justin asked annoyed, but also slightly amused.

“Dear god boy, you’re gonna put the sun outta work!!!” she laughed rolling around on the bed.

“Adia, it’s not that bad....”

Chris and Adia turned to look at eachother, “Yes it is,” they said in unison.

Justin rolled his eyes and threw his shirt over his head as the phone rang.

Adia, Chris and Justin all immediately checked their phones and it turned out to be Justin’s.

“Ohhh hey babe...”

Adia rolled her eyes. Chris gave her a sharp look.

Adia signed something out and smacked him across the forehead.

“Yeah Jackie, I can come to your prom.........that shouldn’t be a problem, even if it was you know I’d climb the highest mountain to...........yeah I know it was........okay hon I love you, I’ll see you soon,” with that Justin clicked off the phone.

“Justin I have a question,” Adia smiled.

“What?” he asked.

“Why the hell did you say you would go to her prom, we’re going to be in Germany all of May and June?”

“That’s right....damn,” he said slamming his fist against the table.

“Woah, man I’m sure we’ll find some way for you to be there,” Chris offered.

“Yeah whatever man.”

“I’ll see you guys downstairs,” Adia said, taking Justin’s blow up as a cue to leave.

“You guys are going to do so well, you have no idea,” Adia grinned.

She gave them all a hug before they took the stage.

A man camer up behind her and wrapped his arms around her from behind. “Hey Marc,” she said smiling.

“Hey Adia, how was your day?”

“How am I usually after I’ve spent the night on an airplane?” she said as she turned around and looked at him.

“Nevermind.”

“You’re a smart cookie man,” she said as she pinched his chin.

“So don’t tell me stuff I already know,” he smiled.

She stuck her toungue out at him, but looked back at the stage. For some reason she couldn’t take her eyes off of Justin. It’s probably the hair she said to herself

“So Adia, when are you going to go out with me?”

She looked up at him and groaned, “I thought I made it clear that that’s not going to happen.”

“Okay sorry, can’t help it, you’re just so perfect.”

She rolled her eyes at his lies, “Or have you just not been getting any from anyone on this tour?”

He sighed and baxcked off. She was too hard to handle, no sense in trying to harness the wind.

The lobby was huge, there was classical music playing in the background and the wine was was the most expensive Adia had ever tasted. This was the kind of afterparty that was very unusual to her. She owned one dress. As if it couldn’t be any worse, she was with Justin the whole night and he was a nut case because he missed his girlfriend so much.

Adia sighed as she looked at the poor guy. She could relate.

He heaved one last sigh and ran his hand through his hair his eyes in the most pain she had ever seen. “I need some fresh air,” he said as he stepped out of the room and into the courtyard. Adia followed him without a word.

Once they were out there they both sat down next to the fountain and looked around the yard. There was a huge hedge maze and the stars and moon were shining so bright it was difficult to look at. Sighing, Adia looked over at the guy in front of her that always put up such a good front that you never really thought that he had any problems. She knew that he was gradually growing on her, but sometimes he had his head so far up his ass that he didn’t notice what was going on in the world around him.

She shifted her sympathetic gaze towards him, “Justin, do you want to talk about it?”

“I don’t know,” he said smoothing the hair on the top of his head.

“Look maybe I’m a bitch t you sometimes, but you can tell me.”

“Adia, everything feels different, I have no idea where to start, it’s just all wrong, everything.”

He was already leading her into confusion, “Do you have an example?”

“I guess, I don’t love Jackie as much as I used to, we never see eachother and we keep drifting apart. Whenever I have to say goodbye to my mother or little brother they get that look in their eyes that makes me never want to let them go. I just want to give up in this, I love it, but....”

Adia leaned over him and gave him a hug, “It’s okay.”

“I know how you feel, I was an agent by the time I was 17, I didn’t get to be a teenager and just have fun either.”

“Yeah, I guess it’s hard for the guys, but none of them really had to leave high school and have a tutor. There’s some really great tutors out there, but, none of them are right for me, graduating was hard. I don’t get to see my brother grow up, I don’t get to take my girlfriend to the prom, I don’t get a lot of things. There’s only one thing I get. Music.”

Adia, was never really good at this kind of conversation, she never knew what to say, so she just hugged him tighter. After a few seconds she pulled away and dipped her fingers into the fountain. She grinned and flicked water at his face. His mouth dropped as she ran away.

“Adia James Rialto I would try to kill you if it weren’t for the gun you’re carrying.”

“Well come and catch me,” she said before smiling and running into the hedge maze.

Justin rolled his eyes and ran after her into the maze.

The minute he rounded the corner, a rose hip pegged him in the forehead. He smiled and looked at the rose bush near him, grabbed a couple and threw them at Adia.

She ran as fast as she could away from him and only one of the rose hips managed to hit her ankle.

“Ha, see you have bad aim jr,” Adia called back behind her and ripped around the corners as fast as she could with Justin in hot persuit. After running for about ten minutes she thought she lost him, so she looked behind her not seeing that she was in he center of the maze, and tumbled straight into a bush. After laughing for a while, Justin helped her up and smiled. Her eyes went over every one of his facial features and she smiled back at him.

“I think we remebered our keys this time.”

“I couldn’t agree more.”

“Where the hell are they?!?!” Mike yelled into his walkie talkie.

“Woah Mike, calm down,” Adia said as she walked into the room with Justin in tow.

“Adia, um...you’re kind of wet,” Chris said matter of factly.

“Well thank you for being so observant Christopher,” Adia glared at him and her, Justin and Chris went up to their hotel rooms after they’re long explaination of the maze.

Adia sighed as she flopped down on her bed drying her hair with a towel. She flicked on the TV, and no more than three seconds later did a knock come from the door.

“Who is it?” she asked before she opened the door.

“Adia, it’s Mike. We’re short on security tonight the guys are going out, you have to sleep in Justin’s room because he’s not allowed to go out, he’s grounded.”

She groaned. “Tell the sun to come in here, his room’s a pigsty and I don’t feel like getting up.”

“Adia.”

“Alright, alright, alright, I’m coming.”

“Thank you.”

She looked down at her silk pajamas. Adia got up and walked over to her dresser, pulled out her red cargo pants, her baby blue roxy halter top and threw on the thick navy blue hooded sweatshirt that said “security” in yellow letters on the back. She went into her bathroom and laced her gun belt on before walking out the door with her security pass and her keys which she used to lock the door. In the hallway she pulled her hair up into a ponytail and knocked on Justin’s door.

.

Adia sighed as Justin opened the door in his boxers and squinted.

“I have to babysit you, Mike’s orders,” she looked him up and down, “did I wake you?”

“No I was just drifting off.”

She smiled and shook her head. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay,” he said as he walked over to his dresser to put some more clothes on.

Adia layed down on the spare bed in the room and looked at the pay per view flyer on the night table.

“What’s on?” Juatin asked from underneath the shirt he was in the middle of slipping over his head.

“Not much,” she replied tucking a stray strand of her dark brown hair behind her ear. She honestly was very beautiful, just not in the gorgeous glamorous love at first sight way. She could have been if she wanted to be, but she was low key and planned to stay that way. She bit her right pinkie nail and Justin couldn’t help but roll his eyes, he hated that. It grossed him out completely. Adia wasn’t proud of it, but she certainly wouldn’t stop it just cause he asked her to so he said nothing. Justin looked her up and down, she was reading the flyer so she didn’t seem to notice. Her skin was toned perfectly, although it wasn’t all that dark, you could still see the african american in her blood, even if there was only an one quarter in her. She looked so innocent, but Justin knew that she had seen more than he ever would.

Timberlake you need to think of something else and fast.

”Oh wait, Wild Wild West is on, you want to get that?” Adia spoke up suddenly, “I’ll pay.”

“No It’s okay I’ll take care of it,” he said as he sat down next to her.

She looked over at him and sighed, he was too close. Alarms went off in her head. She shifted her weight and got up as quickly as she could.

Adia grabbed the phone and called downstairs to get the movie. Within minutes it was ordered and the opening credits were rolling.

They both tried to get comfortable, but the situation was too weird. They both felt strange and a little light headed. They had managed to convince themselves that there was nothing wrong, but both of them knew that their lives were about to take a dramatic turn. Adia fell asleep eventually and long after the movie was over the TV was left on as Justin lay awake staring at the woman laying in front of him that did more than confuse him.
