Application Process
Youth Application
The following application form must be completed and delivered
to the Host Agency to determine if you are eligible for participation
in this program.
Prospective
Volunteer's Application Form
You'll need Adobe's Acrobat Reader. If you
don't have it, you can download it here:
The Host Agency will review your application and contact
you as soon as an appropriate placement is available. The Host Agency
will review all applications to determine the types of experiences
young people are seeking and to assist disadvantaged youth who may
have difficulty accessing post-secondary studies. Due to the limited
program funds, not all youth who apply will receive a work experience
opportunity through Youth Community Action.
Youth may also approach eligible
community organizations to see if they are interested in participating
in the program and submitting a sponsor
application to the Host Agency. Print out the sponsor
FAQ if you'd like to answer some of their questions right away.
The new opportunities must be a minimum of 100 hours to a maximum
of 300 hours. All opportunities must be approved by the Host Agency
and Placement Agreements must be signed before youth can begin.
All youth must have a valid Social Insurance Number and sign a
Placement Agreement with the Host Agency prior to commencing their
placement. The Social Insurance Number is required as the credits
are considered a taxable benefit once redeemed. Any
hours completed prior to signing the Placement Agreement are not
valid.
What is a Placement Agreement?
The placement agreement outlines the roles and responsibilities
of the youth, the sponsor, and the Host Agency and information
about the position.
Can students still apply for BC and/or Canada Student Loans?
Yes, students are still eligible to apply for Student Loans,
but the entire amount of tuition credits earned must be claimed on the
Loan application form.
Can YCA participants still apply for scholarships and bursaries?
Yes, YCA volunteers are still eligible to apply for
scholarships and bursaries.
Youth participating in a Youth Community Action placement
will agree to:
- provide information which will assist in reviewing the effectiveness
and efficiency of the program; and
- a release of information regarding the placement for publicity
related to Youth Options BC and the Youth Community Action
program.
