OBJECTIVES OF SURREY INDIA ARTS CLUB |
Since 1975, Surrey India Arts Club has been striving for the preservation of Punjabi Culture in its traditional way. Members of Surrey India Arts Club very well understand that "Change is Law of Nature". Culture is not a snapshot in time and should always be looked upon as a static picture. Culture is something that is directly related with people - masses, folks.
Whenever there is a wave of change in masses, there is a direct impact on culture. Traditions change from time to time. What matters at Surrey India Arts Club is not the change itself but the change for the good. This is really true in country like Canada where everyone is far away from their roots, their motherland and people do not have time out of their busy schedules to focus their attention on changing traditions and how they affect our culture overall. Every member of Surrey India Arts Club does a dedicated hard work to make sure that with very change, people do not forget or loose the best part of their excellent traditions - especially in field of Folk Dances of the Punjab namely Bhangra, Giddha, Malwai Giddha, Jhummar and Dhamal.
Additionally, focus is always on promoting youth for participation in Folk Songs and learning different Folk Instruments of the Punjab.
