The Bonaparte Indian Band is located on 1331.9 hectares and services six reserves. The reserve was allotted by Commissioner Sproat August 10, 1878. The band is part of the Salishan linguistic group.

The reserve is home to 221 aboriginals with another 346 living off the reserve and is accessible by road and air. Water is supplied to the dwellings on the reserve by individual systems including twenty-four wells, three reservoirs, and three community wells. Sewage is disposed in septic tanks. Police protection and health care are provided by Ashcroft.

Facilities available on the reserve include a band office, a preschool, a church, and a band hall. Economic activities include cattle and hay ranches, firewood, logging, and an individually owned trailer court and restaurant.
