When I was a kid, I always enjoyed the old Beverly Hillbillies series on TV. Their backwards antics were always funny to me.
As I grew into my teens, my family moved to Kentucky. I found a completely different culture from what I was used to in California.
Not too far from where we lived was a place called Cobb Town, where, for many generations, a clan of people lived in poverty. The name stuck with me and I decided to name my hillbilly family after them.
In 1999 I made a video using the song "Grandma Got Ran Over by a Reindeer". It starred Jimmy Joe and introduced his family, the Cobb Clan.
There was Granma and Grandpa, Cousin Al, Bubby, and Uncle Judd.
The film turned out really funny with my wife Patti playing the part of Grandpa, and my son Ryan as Grandma. My sons Matthew and Alex were Cousin Al and Bubby.
Uncle Judd was not even a real person, but a cardboard cut out of Qui Gon Jinn from the Phantom Menace movie with a cowboy hat on his head.
In the movie, Grandma slaps Jimmy Joe, and then goes outside to get her medication. They find her all sprawled out on the ground.
Other crazy scenes include Cousin Al spitting tobacco in a cup, Santa looking surprised over Grandma's corpse, and at the end the whole clan singing together around the table and a hearty "Merry Christmas" from Grandpa.
