Episode 25, "Aloha!"

Previously, on Friends and Foes:

  • Taylor revealed to Alex that the girl he had killed was Josie Lische, the roommate of Lyndsay Schofield, who is Taylor's girlfriend.
  • Taylor and Alex disposed of her body.
  • Brandi gave crucial information to Kortni about Jeff, canceling out the cult as a suspect. Instead, Brandi said it had to do with the serial murders from last year...
  • Upon finding out about Candice losing the envelope, Kaveh orders her to go get it from Alex.
  • Lyndsay did not know where Josie was, and was about to call her boyfriend, Robert, when Taylor frantically wouldn’t let her...

    LYNDSAY’S DORM ROOM - MORNING

Lyndsay does not hesitate to slap Taylor across the face with her free hand. Immediately, Taylor retreats in shock and nearly falls to the floor.

"Listen to me, Taylor: I know we are going out now, and Hell, I just gave you the best sex you’ll ever have. I also am cheating on my boyfriend for you, but that does not give you the right to touch me like that. EVER."

Lyndsay’s true colors are soaring. She is a cunning and resilient young woman, who won’t be bullied. Although she can be caring and compassionate, this woman will not be victimized.

    "I’m sorry...I..."

"What’s gotten into you? Ever since you walked in that door you’ve been acting really strange..."

Taylor watches helplessly as Lyndsay picks up the phone and dials Robert.

"Hello? Robert? Hi, this is Lyndsay. Yeah, is Josie there?"

Taylor looks up at her, his eyes pleading for her to stop.

"What? No...You did? Oh my God...but she never came home last night so I was just assuming...hello? Hello?"

Lyndsay’s eyes furrow in offense as a dial tone resounds through the receiver. She hangs up.

"What happened?" Taylor asks, his heart beating a million miles per hour.

"It’s Josie. Robert broke it off with her last night and she was running home crying. But she never came home last night!"

Lyndsay sits down at the couch, worried. "Do you think she’s alright?"

"Sure." Taylor says reassuringly, a sweat starting to form on his forehead.

    "It’s not like her."

"She’s probably just taking some time off to vent."

Lyndsay gets up and starts to pace, "I hope so."

ALEX AND TAYLOR’S DORM - MORNING

Candice knocks profusely on the door.

"Please...please..." She chants as she hesitates, before knocking again.

Moments later, Alex opens the door, his eyes weary from little sleep and his hair fuzzy. It is obvious he had a long night. "Hey."

Candice tries to assess Alex’s emotions and facial expressions, trying desperately to figure out if he knows or not, as she walks into the apartment.

"You look tired." She says casually, shutting the door behind her.

"I didn’t get much sleep last night."

"Any reason?" Candice sits down at the living room couch.

"Not really." Alex says as he sits down. "Can I get you something?"

    "No, I’m fine. Thanks."

"So, what brings you ‘round these parts?" Alex jokingly says in a southern dialect, but somehow, his usual energy is faded and distant.

"Just wanted to say hi." Candice replies. "So, anything new?"

    "Nope. Nothing special."

Candice takes a deep breathe, adrenaline rushing through through her veins. She clenches her fists and blurts, "Did you like my card?"

Alex’s eyes go wide. "You know what? I lost it! Jeez, I’m so sorry!"

"Oh, don’t worry about it." Candice sighs in relief. "Really, it’s ok."

    "Really?"

"Yes, of course." Candice smiles. She is relaxed now that she knows the truth. It just happens to be her luck. "Do you mind if I use your phone real fast?"

"No, go ahead. It’s right around that corner in the kitchen."

Candice kisses Alex on the cheek and walks over to the kitchen. She picks up the phone and dials some numbers. Moments later, she speaks in an almost inaudible whisper.

"Kaveh? It’s me. No he doesn’t know, he lost the envelope. I know, just our luck, huh? Ok. Well, I have to go so I’ll talk to you later. Ok. Bye."

Happiness overwhelms Candice. She walks back into the living room. "You know what? I feel like doing something completely spontaneous!"

"Like what?" Alex says, a smirk creeping up across his face.

Candice ponders for a moment, then her eyes widen. "Let’s go to Hawaii!"

In the midst of his emotional stress, Alex gives out a hearty laugh as he utters, "Are you kidding or are you just insane?!"

"No, let’s you, me, your roommate, and his girlfriend go to Hawaii! It will be SO FUN!"

Alex realizes she isn’t joking and starts assessing the situation, "I don’t know, that’s pretty out-of-the-blue. We’re going to have to plan it..."

Candice rolls her eyes and tugs at Alex’s arm. "Oh, c’mon! Don’t be so reserved about everything! Have some fun! Take life as it comes to you!"

    LAX AIRPORT - AFTERNOON

"I cannot believe we are doing this!" Lyndsay giggles, as Taylor, Candice, Alex, and herself walk out of the terminal into a walkway leading into the plane. They are all carrying small duffle bags, so it is apparent that they have packed and left very quickly.

The tourists are bustling and very much alive as passengers hurry around the airport to get to their planes on time.

"Neither can I, trust me." Taylor says with a quiet chuckle. He seems much brighter and sociable than just hours before.

"This is going to be fun. Four friends, on their own, out in a new land..."

"I can’t wait," Alex says, almost pessimistically.

"Shut up!" Candice says as she joking smacks Alex’s arm.

"So, what about the hotel reservations?" Lyndsay asks, handing the flight attendant her ticket and walking into the plane.

"We’re staying at the Honolulu Hilton," Candice says, scouring the 747 plane with her eyes, looking for her seat. She finds it and the four scuffle their ways into the aisle of seats and collapse.

"I am SO excited, you guys!" Lyndsay squeals. "I really needed something like this after finals."

"Oh God, me too." Candice says with a sigh.

"I’m just worried about Josie." Lyndsay says, with a some-what worried frown on her face.

"Josie?" Candice looks at Lyndsay thoughtfully.

Alex gets uncomfortable and fidgets in his seat. The overwhelming guilt he has for killing Josie is ridden away by his terrible fear of getting caught. As Lyndsay explains to Candice and continues to jabber on, Alex glances at Taylor. How can he be so calm about this? In the last 12 hours, Alex had learned things about Taylor’s personality that he never dreamed existed. He saw a new side to Taylor...a very dark side.

The seats start shaking as the plane lifts off.

    WASHINGTON D.C., A MOTEL ROOM - NOON

Kortni sits on the bed of the cheap motel, looking at the piece of paper in her lap, writing down any clues or evidence she can use to find Jeff. Her eyes are tired and it is apparent that she has been working non-stop through the night. Brandi walks out of the bathroom, her hair wet and wild, and a towel wrapped around her body. Water glistens on her legs as she walks into the room.

"What’s new?" She asks, sitting at the other bed, crossing her legs.

"Nothing. I just keep going through the story over and over again. It’s like I am driving in circles." Kortni says, massaging her temples.

"What have you written down?" Brandi asks, pointing at the paper.

"Here," Kortni sighs, handing Brandi the slip of paper.

Words, names, and clues are scribbled randomly all over the paper. Under a list titled ‘People To Be Questioned’, many names are etched down darkly in pencil, including those of Stephanie Bahr, Tristan Bany, Alex Harrison, and Taylor Brookdale.

"These names are all too familiar," Brandi reminisces in the past, "so what happens next?"

Kortni looks into Brandi’s eyes, as if the answer would shock or upset her. "We’re going back to where it all started. We’re going back to Pine Valley."

LOS ANGELES, AN ISOLATED ALLEY - NIGHT

The moon glimmers over the small street and seems to give its darkness an evil glow. Some water runs quietly down the crevices on the side of the street, the moonlight dancing eloquently on the ripples.

It is all too quiet, the occasional sound of cars passing by breaking the eerie silence. Not a creature is stirring in the shadows of this forgotten little alley; a mouse crawls intrepidly across the street, heading inconspicuously to a large trash bin.

It stirs around for a while, until a faint noise resounds from the bin. The mouse squeals in fright and scurries off. Another noise comes from the bin, only this time it is a loud thump.

Suddenly, the top of the bin flies off. Someone’s dirty, quivering hand is thrust into the air, trying to grab hold of something, as the top seems to shatter against the asphalt. The hand remains in the air for a moment, shaking uncontrollably, dirt and trash buried under the fingernails and skin. Finally, the hand grabs on to the rim of the bin, and the person inside manages to pull her self up.

Standing there, trembling with fear and anger...is Josie Lische.
