Episode 40, "The Wedding Part II"
A BAR IN WEST L.A.
Lyndsay walks into the desolate bar, heavy smoke filling the air and the stench of drunken men drifting around. The bartender looks incredibly bored as he takes a long drag of his cigarette, waiting for one of the few men in the bar to buy a drink. He glances at Lyndsay, who is dressed in a baggy sweater with a hood hiding her face.
"Can I help you?" The bartender asks.
"I’m looking for Damien Gellar." She says.
The bartender drops the cigarette and looks alert. "What do you wanna see him for."
"It’s business!" Lyndsay says. The bartender gives her a second glance, then goes into the storage room in the back.
Lyndsay looks around, uncomfortable, while waiting for this mysterious ‘Damien Gellar.’ After a few minutes, a scruffy man in his late 20’s walks over to Lyndsay.
"Hey Lyndsay."
"Damien." She gives him a handshake. "Let’s cut to the chase...you said if I ever needed a favor that I could come to you, and I know the business you’re in and..."
"Shhhh..." Damien says. He grabs her arm softly and takes her into a more secluded corner of the bar.
"What is it you need me to do?"
"I need you to ruin a wedding." Lyndsay says, almost seductively.
"Now how do you want me to take them out?" Damien asks.
"I will pay you 10,000 dollars, in cash, if you rig a wedding with explosives. I also want you to orchestrate a drive by shooting to kill this b*ch named..."
"No names...all I need is time and place."
Lyndsay smiles, "The wedding is tonight...so you have less than 10 hours. I’m sure you’ll do a fine job."
DRESSING ROOM
Candice stands alone in the room now, with an evil grin on her face. She loves Amber, and wishes the best for her, but she knows that now is the best time to ruin Amanda with her little secret.
Candice reaches into her purse and uncovers the diary that she has stolen from Amanda. "Oh, Amanda...poor thing. What will Alex think of you when he finds out you’re a lesbian tonight at the reception?"
Candice cackles evilly, holding the diary firm in her hands. "Let the show begin!"
CHURCH
The aisles are starting to be filled with guests. Parents, family, and friends of Taylor and Amber are all gathered, laughing and smiling in anticipation.
Amanda enters the chapel, dressed in a white gown, and takes a seat near the front. She isn’t to excited to be at the wedding, but she knows she should be there to support Taylor and Amber.
Taylor and Alex stand at the alter, the groom and the best man, waiting for Amber to walk down the aisle. On the other side of the alter, Candice, the maid of honor, stands poised and ready.
The priest seems excited as he flips through the bible. Suddenly, the hired orchestra starts to play the wedding march, as Amber enters the chapel. She is striking and beautiful, and Taylor can’t help but seem in awe of her.
She walks slowly down the aisle, a little girl tailing her with a basket of flower pedals. She smiles as her eyes meet with Taylor’s. She is completely ecstatic.
After what seems like minutes, Amber reaches the alter, and stands facing her fiancée, hand in hand.
The Priest smiles, and begins. "Dearly beloved, we gather here today to celebrate the holy union of Taylor Scott Brookdale and Amber Elizabeth Newell. This young couple is here to swear their vows and love each other till eternity, and join in holy matrimony...and hopefully make many wonderful children!"
The crowd laughs heartily.
The priest chuckles. "Would the best man please provide the ring?"
Alex smiles and hands Taylor the ring.
"Now Taylor, please place the ring on Amber’s ring finger. Do you, Taylor, take Amber Newell to be your lawful wedded wife, through richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live? Do you swear to honor, serve, and protect Amber for eternity?"
Taylor smiles, nervous, but ready. "I do."
The priest smiles and addresses Candice. "Would the Maid of Honor please bring forth the ring?"
Candice hands Amber the ring and Amber puts it on Taylor’s finger.
"Do you, Amber, take Taylor Brookdale to be your lawful wedded husband, through richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live? Do you swear to honor, serve, and protect Amber for eternity?"
Tears start streaming down Amber’s face as she smiles and says, "I do."
"The couple asked that they exchange personal vows, as well. Taylor, your vows?"
Taylor is slightly shaking. "You have brought more joy into my life than I ever dreamed I could be lucky enough to have. Suddenly, my life has point and purpose.
I think of you when I wake, and the day without you seems too long to get through. At work, I think about you all the time. In the evening, I'm happy when I'm with you - but if I'm not, I can't settle. What's the point of watching television, if I can't put my arm round you while I do it?
And at night... at night, you're the last thing I think of before I go to sleep. I dream of you. Such happy dreams! Is it possible to smile while you're asleep? I think so.
The only thing that could make me happier is if we were sharing our lives completely. No more evenings wishing you were here. No more nights alone. I love you and our child, Amber."
Amber tears up even heavier now, as she reaches for her vow. "I love you. Three little words that mean so much, yet seem to say so little. The way I feel about you, I need other words, bigger words, words that don't get used so often.
I need a word for the heart bursting joy that sets my head spinning whenever I think of you. I need another for the warm ocean of contentment I feel lapping around me when I think of the years we will have together in the future. And another for the determination I feel when I think of you - determination to make you so happy you will be mine forever. And the words for the desire you raise in me....
But the only words I have are ‘I love you’
I love you."
The guests in the aisles applaud and many of the women raise handkerchiefs to their eyes.
"Before this couple is binded in the name of God, if anyone has any objections, speak now or forever hold your peace."
The guests, Taylor, Amber, Alex, Candice, EVERYONE seems confident that nothing can shatter this beautiful day, this beautiful moment, this beautiful matrimony..."
"I OBJECT!"
The crowd gasps as Taylor and Amber, shocked, look in to the crowd to see...
Lyndsay.
