Joe Gallant, pianist/teacher, holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Minnesota--Duluth. He has studied formally with Dr. E. Terrence Rust, Dr. LeAnn House, Sylvia Dryhaug, and Dr. E. Beth Gilbert. While in college, Joe also studied voice and was a member of the Duluth Superior Opera Chorus, participating in productions of Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Honnegar's King David, and Puccini's Madame Butterfly. As a recitalist, he has performed nine solo recitals, three duet recitals, and has appeared with the Itasca Symphony Orchestra in a performance of the Bach Concerto for four pianos. Master class experiences include Van Cliburn, Gary Graffmann, Jeffrey Swann, Andre Watts, as well as private coaching with Weekley and Arganbright. Joe has also pursued study in organ and cello.

The Joe Gallant Piano Studio was founded in 1982. Joe is a lifetime nationally certified member of MTNA, a state certified member of MMTA, and a member of NFMC. He has held positions as National Chairperson NFMC Theory/Musicianship, State Chairperson NFMC Composer's Contest, and State Chairperson MMTA State Piano Contest 2004. Joe also served on the ad hoc committee responsible for creating the MMTA Bridges Program.

Joe's students have participated successfully in both NFMC composition and MMTA piano competitions. A number of his students have performed at Northrop Auditorium in Minneapolis as a result of winning at both the preliminary and final levels of the MMTA Piano Contest.

Joe has been involved in the area music community as Past President and a performing member of the Itasca Orchestral Society, past Co-Chairman of the Itasca Music Club, member of the Grand Rapids Area Community Chorus, and has recently relinquished his long-term position as the Director of Music Ministries at the United Methodist Church of Grand Rapids, MN.
